SUNRISE

On Oct 29 , when I took the chinook photos , I was half looking for sunrise photos. I checked and there was good color in the east. Now being lazy I took a few shots out of the window. I told myself that if I got dressed to go out , the color could be gone. Shooting in that direction there's a lot of junk in the way.

However , it's the best I could get. That bright streetlight doesn't help anything.

Then I looked west and that's when I got the chinook arch.

Today we got another 10 cm of snow. That's three days of 10 cm a day snow. Am I tired of shoveling?

  1. I was not familiar with the Chinook arch. Thank you for introducing me to the concept, Red!

    1. For us it makes for variable weather. Sometimes there are quite a few in the winter

  2. I had to do a little conversion work. 10 cm is about 4 inches. It sure seems like 3 days in a row of 4 inches of snow is a lot this early in November … but then again, I’m not really sure what is common in Red Deer. Is this really unusual? Yes, you are already tired of shoveling!

    1. Nothing is common when it comes to weather here. However, by Nov. 1 it's cold enough that when we get snow it will usually stay.

  3. I am not looking forward to shoveling...I need to move the shovel up next to the door by Thursday from the looks of the weather report!

    1. I don't mind shoveling unless it's wet heavy snow that sticks to your shovel.

  5. I have told you before - if you don't like shovelling snow - tell The Micro Manager to do it. After all, what are wives for?

    1. You have to pace yourself with shoveling. I didn't see the eclipse. It was too busy snowing.

  13. Sunsets can last longer than most photographers think. Sometimes the best color and contrast is 30 min after sun sets. Take your time on the snow. Just be able to get out.

  15. I'm so glad we don't get snow in Sydney. I take my hat off to anyone who shovels snow

  16. I didn't mind the light, fluffy snow we'd get when the weather was colder. For shoveling, I mean. It's the wet stuff that would break your back.
