What's coming? Well, spring is on it's way. You can tell who's getting antsy and anxious to see spring come.
We have had an exceptionally mild January. For five days we've had daytime highs above 0 C.
So for winter solstice it was like this.
Sun rise : 8:42 AM Sunset : 4:24 PM Total daylight 7 hrs and 42 minutes
For Jan 23 it looks like this.
Sunrise : 8:28 AM Sunset : 5:05 PM Total daylight hours 8 hr and 37 min
There was an increase of 4 minutes from yesterday to today.
So were bumping along nicely toward spring.
Feels a long way off here.
ReplyDeleteWell it's a long way off here too if you consider 2 months a long way off.
DeleteOur weather has drifted into winter again, though perversely it's much warmer up in Scotland than here in the south of England.
ReplyDeleteWe all have our own winters to survive through.
DeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteThe daylight is getting a little longer now, our sunset is 5:12PM.
But, spring still feels a long way off. Take care, have a wonderful day!
Well spring is a long way off and it does it's own thing on the way.
DeleteDays above freezing? That DOES seem exceptionally warm where you are! We're currently well below freezing at night, which is pretty cold for London.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't happen often but it does occur.
DeleteThere may be some disappointments for you in the coming months. 🤓
ReplyDeleteOh, you've got that one right.
DeleteYay! I am watching the progress here too. Hope is sometimes a beam of light!
ReplyDeleteFunny that when we look forward to something it takes a long time.
DeleteI can imagine your eagerness for spring dear Red :)
ReplyDeleteCold parts of land that remain under the rain showers a lot or snow get extraordinary Spring burst with beauty of Nature.
Hope spring walks down to your town swiftly
I must be a realist and know that spring is more than two months away.
DeleteIt's not a long ways off down here, but it usually feels that way due to this being the snowiest time of the year for us. In the next 30 days is when we get about 90% of our winter snow. We just got some Saturday, expected to get more tonight and another one this coming Saturday.
ReplyDeleteInteresting that snow comes so late in the winter.
DeleteI have always thought it has to do with the seasonal movement of the jet stream.
DeleteWe usually don't have Spring until April or so here in Illinois so I am surprised you are already anxious up there! Time does fly by, tho, so maybe you are right...
ReplyDeleteSpring to me means that the snow melts.
DeleteStill wintry here and the frost broke my favourite flower pot yesterday.
ReplyDeleteThe frost here can freeze the ground to a depth of 6 to 8 feet.
DeleteIt's always so wonderful when the days get longer.
ReplyDeleteI was surprised to see that the day had increased by 4 minutes.
DeleteThe temps have been going up a few degrees here this week.
ReplyDeleteWe enjoy those temperature changes.
DeleteWe have had a pretty mild winter here, but I am longing for spring anyway. We've got a storm due in tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteWe've had a mild January but that's about to change.
DeleteIt doesn't feel like Spring is ever coming here.
ReplyDeleteIn a week or so, we'll be at the halfway point between winter and spring. I'm ready, too! :-)
ReplyDeleteI was thinking that when I wrote the post.
DeleteI'll be posting some more signs of spring on my blog today. The almost hour of more daylight is now noticeable. Now if I could only get out and dig in the dirt, but Tom is doing a great job on the tasks I have done in the past.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised by the number of blooms you have at this time of year.
DeleteIt has been a strange January in Ontario. 3 C. today.
ReplyDeleteYou've had a nasty winter.
DeleteYou up to the north take spring VERY seriously.
ReplyDeleteTo me, spring is when the snow is melting or has melted.
DeleteGood to see signs of spring :)
ReplyDeleteWe never even thought about spring when we lived in Chicago until the end of March.
ReplyDeleteIncreased daylight is welcome!
