I RECEIVED A PROMOTION

     Yes that's right , I've been promoted!

I've been promoted to be the head vacuum cleaner operator here. As a result , from now on I do all the vacuuming in this house.  That means all floors. All furniture. All stuff on walls. I do work under a supervisor and the supervisor tells me if I've done a good job or missed anything.

I don't really mind this promotion. The Micro Manger at one time did all the vacuuming. I wasn't even in training. Gradually, I've taken over the vacuuming.

The micro Manager has been suffering increasing physical problems which make operating the vacuum cleaner a bit of a challenge and in fact would do harm.

The Micro Manager has a torn rotator cuff which causes a lot of pain and loss of strength.

So I will do my best to keep all those dust bunnies on the run.

  1. Should I say congrats on the promotion? Perhaps it is temporary until the Micro Manager is all healed?

  6. You are a good team and I'm glad you have stepped up to do the vacuuming, Red. You will have to vacuum for many, many years to catch up to all the time the Micro Manager did the vacuuming! :)

    1. Your last sentence is so true , but then she'd have to work a long time to catch up on the grass mowing.

  9. Red, I’m delighted to see you’ve been promoted. Congratulations! We are now both Head Vacuum Cleaners! 😊 Now, if there is any disappointment, it’s that the MM has torn rotator cuff issues. Dang, I am sorry to hear that as I also have a similar issue. I know the pain! I wonder if she is in Physical Therapy … I am and it helps. John

  10. A worthy promotion. I'm sure. Tom took over vacuuming a long time ago, before my first back surgery.

  12. When my husband retired we had a reorganizing of household tasks. His Mother never got to retire( she was stuck with everything including a wheel chair bound husband) and I didn't want to be in her shoes. My husband now vacuums, does the laundry and fills the dishwasher in the evening. The other tasks are mine including emptying the dishwasher in the morning... Works. Neither of us is stuck with too much. Of course if things change for either of us medically...

    1. Exactly. Retired couple s should share the chores. Too many women end up like your MIL.

  13. Who you gonna call? Dust buster! You and mm are a good team. In our house, if I can no longer vacuum, dust bunnies will wind up killing us in our sleep.

  14. That is a shame, the rotator cuff. That's what my spouse has.
I now do all the outdoor work, garbage, and all. It's tricky, but we adapt.
    Take care.

  19. Ouch! I'm so sorry for your MM. I have promoted Art to head vacuum cleaner at our house. He also asked to be promoted to bathroom cleaner. How could I deny him?

  20. Running the vacuum cleaner is hard work for older women, good that you took the job over. My husband has a robot vacuum cleaner that he runs around daily:)
