I wrote a series of posts in the last two months about a jack rabbit. It started out when I thought that the color had not all changed to winter white. He/She then kept coming back. This was a surprise as I didn't think they stayed in the one shelter for very long.
So Jan. 10 was the last time I had a visit from Spencer.
Today I look out and there's Spencer back in the same place.
I think it would be the same animal as it's back to the exact place as before. I don't think another animal would take over another rabbit's shelter.
And this animal still has a noticeable amount of it's coat that hasn't turned white.
What a great photo you got of him! It makes me happy to think he's still going strong :)
ReplyDeleteThey're tough. there are quite a few in the neighbor hood.
DeleteHmmmm. Wonder if Spencer has been staying with another rabbit, since the fur hasn't changed much. Is it taking care of baby bunnies in the spot close to your house? Does it need rabbit food? We could go crazy with all kinds of rescue plans: building a hutch, bringing it into your house. Because they're so cute. And, if they get cranky there's always rabbit stew and new fur gloves. Surely you had some rabbit stew, or maybe fox stew during your years on the arctic circle. Linda in melting Kansas, (the snow, not the Wicked Witch.)
ReplyDeleteThese animals are on their own except when a female is in heat. They do not get together and nestle in a nest. No babies at this time of year. No rabbit food here. they get lots of good stuff to eat in the neighborhood. These would be tough to train. You can raise babies but they run away unless locked in a hutch.
DeleteBut those ears blend in quite nicely with the brush, don't they? I'm glad he's back!
ReplyDeleteTheir ears don't turn white.
DeleteSpencer seems to enjoy 'his' spot.
ReplyDeleteIt's a safe protected area.
DeleteAre we sure Spencer is a "he"? In any event, good to see the bunny back.
DeleteHe certainly is a beautiful rabbit!
ReplyDeleteThey are all very pretty animals.
DeleteSpencer is a cutie! Take care, have a great day and happy weekend.
ReplyDeleteGood weekend on your end too.
DeleteIt's nice to see Spencer back with you . . . and therefore us too.
ReplyDeleteWe'll see what happens next.
DeleteAww all comfy cozy looking!
ReplyDeleteHe curls up and dozes all day.
DeleteThe ears are quite dark!
ReplyDeleteNow I am wondering if you ever explained why you call this hare Spencer. I looked back at your posts and can't find an explanation, Red.
ReplyDeleteI didn't say where I GOT THE NAME FROM . i LIVE ON sPENCER ST. i ALSO hAVE A BONSAI CALLED SPENCER
DeleteI guess one can imagine that our fickle weather affects them. I am glad you spotted him. I haven't seen our cottontail in awhile.
ReplyDeleteGood to see Spencer is back!
ReplyDeleteYa, I'm pretty sure it's the same one.
DeleteHa, Spencer looks very comfortable! My little house bunny makes the same contented face when she's ready to nap.
ReplyDeleteThe doze all day.
DeleteSuch a wonderful photo! So good to see he's returned.
ReplyDeleteI've taken a photo on each day he's been here.
DeleteGreat to have your furry friend back. He is a beauty.
ReplyDeleteHe's used to me and doesn't flush when I'm in the yard unless I get too close.
DeleteHe's a handsome bunny!
ReplyDeleteHey, they're all handsome.
DeleteHe looks fattened up. What an odd habit, though.
ReplyDeleteA good looking rabbit. Nice picture.
ReplyDeleteHe's got a very heavy coat at this time of year.
DeleteOh gracious! It looks like he's dug a little hole in the snow which could help him be insulated from the cold. Perhaps? He looks quite comfortable.
ReplyDeleteYou've got us all invested in Spencer!
ReplyDeleteIf Spencer happened to be female you could call her Spencita
Well I'm glad Spencer is holding his own! He does look a bit cold, though.
