This fine group meets a couple of times a year for lunch.
We came to the same school from 1968 to 1972. Three of us stayed in the same school for more than 20 years. Three of us went into administration.
We were young and did not have much experience. There was an older staff member Cliff, who joined the staff at the same time we did. Cliff took a liking to us and to some extent put us under his wing. We spent many good times together socially and professionally.
Our fearless leader retired. A few years after he retired, he organized a lunch. We all quickly agreed. He even had us to his house and cooked the meal. We enjoyed these times together.
Cliff passed away and we still meet for lunches. It's always pleasant to get back together.
I'm the oldest at 84. A couple of the younger ones are in their late 70's.
I have a group of high school friends that meet once a month and it's always lots of fun. We remember old stories and share our current worries or family news. We always have a lot of laughs too.
ReplyDeleteReunions are lot of fun. In this day of globalization it's not so easy to stay together.
DeleteA generation just a bit older than mine. Lots of mentors in that picture who gave me great advice when I was a young teacher. I think I recognize Murray, Dave, Keith, Bob, Jim and, I think, Keith on the end.
ReplyDeleteThe Dave is Paul. You have had the same experience to mentor. Don't worry us old guys were watching the new guys so that we could pick some things up.
DeleteI fond memories of working with all of you. We had a lot of fun times together over the years.
ReplyDeletethere was lots of fun and I wish I knew who you were.
DeleteThese bonds were forged in the trenches of the work place, you probably know each other almost as well as your families do.
ReplyDeleteI hope there are many more lunches!
We had to work together to get the job done. Yes, we knew each other rather well.
DeleteIt's great that you all get together! Where are you meeting? Is that a school lunchroom?
ReplyDeleteWe were in the Legion.
DeleteGood get togethers
ReplyDeleteI see that you have some good get togethers. Groups like your cyclists are very close.
DeleteMy age would fit most of the guys, but I don't hang with any of my former crowd. For one thing, I don't live anywhere close to them.
ReplyDeleteWe still live in the same area. We are part of the community and participate in various things.
DeleteA fine looking bunch!
ReplyDeleteThank you. You should have seen us when we were young!
DeleteThis is lovely.
ReplyDeleteThank you. It was a good time.
DeleteGrowing up as a military dependent, we moved a lot and then after I left home, I continued the habit. It's only since I retired that I have old friends to lunch with.
ReplyDeleteSome people do well being mobile and some are destroyed.
DeleteIt is nice to meet up for lunch with your old colleagues. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteSounds like fun to meet your colleagues over a meal.
ReplyDeleteGreat fun and lots of gossip .
DeleteThis is a wonderful get together and a great tradition.
ReplyDeleteThere's much support there. We've lost one spouse and now two spouses have dementia.
DeleteWhat a good idea to get together, I bet they all enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteWe certainly have a fun time.
DeleteAlways fun to get together and discuss the good-ol'-days.
ReplyDeleteWe are lucky to be able to meet in these days of globalization.
DeleteIt's good that you still get together. My teacher group hasn't met since I stopped organizing it. It got too big to organize easily. No one else would take it over. I only feel a little bit bad, but do I miss it.
ReplyDeleteIt's a challenge to organize and find a date that suits most people.
DeleteYou are so fortunate to live close to your mates.!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun time that must be, sharing memories and laughs.
ReplyDeleteThat is wonderful that you still get together.
ReplyDeletesuch a sweet gathering !
ReplyDeletethe joy of such meetings can be imagined only by those who understand the value of older relationships
