I'VE HAD ENOUGH POLITICS

This week the CBC has started "in depth" coverage of the American election. Now I had over kill a couple of months ago with the American election. No offense intended about the election.

Now CBC is our national station and presents much different programming than commercial stations. I listen to it all the time.

So teams of broadcasters have been set up all over the main areas of the US to "give us the background" on what they think are key areas and  policies.

With that, many of the usual programs are cancelled.

What I find particularly offensive is the handling of the truth by the political parties. Parties have always skillfully used slant to make their policies appealing. Now they just plain out lie about things.

I saw a picture of an interesting cap that said Make lying wrong again. Wouldn't that be great.

However in a short time all the shenanigans of the last year will be over and the fight will begin as to who won. So apparently counting of votes doesn't show who wins. Some people think that people can't count and for sure machines can't count.

Machine counting is very easy and accurate. You take the ballots and records  to head quarters. There are a few checks and balances and then the ballots are put in the machine and the count is spit out.

So I will have to enjoy some more election time.

  1. Understand completely! I think we all will be relieved when the election is over but I fear what will come next. I have turned the news off. I already know who I am voting for.

  2. Sorry the Canadians are having to hear this U.S. garbage. We're very sick of it too. Unfortunately, they'll be dickering about who won, but I pray for a quiet landslide for Harris. Most Democrats are still stunned at how gulible the pro-Trumpers are, with so many lies filling their heads. Even if Trump loses, he'll still be bothering all of us, just like he did during Biden's years. It's really sickening and sad. Be aware: some of us want to move to Canada if Trump wins. 3. Make lying wrong again. Brilliant. I've just realised that it's not one of the Seven Deadly Sins.

  4. The BBC here has a web page called "BBC Verify" that reports on any misinformation they detect in political speeches or news reports. I tend to go there before even reading world headlines. It seems to have had some effect on national politics and we no longer have quite so many untruths as we had a few years ago.

  5. I seem to remember "hanging chads" ..!! No system is perfect.
It seems to go on and on...once the election is done, then there is the post mortem..and that drags on to mid term when they start talking about the next one !!!!

  9. In all my years, elections have always been full of misrepresentations and lies. The big difference is that most of years gone by had kernels of truth in them somewhere while some now are just flat out not true. Another big difference is that in earlier decades, once the election was over, things quieted down again. But in the last three or four elections, the losing side just starts up criticizing every little thing for the next four years. It is now nearly non-stop. I wish we could just go back to accepting defeat graciously and striving towards compromise instead of trying to take the other side off at the knees.

  10. It will soon be over, way too much mud slinging, I wish they would stick to their policies and leave each other alone. Neither deserve to win but one of them will.

  13. I'm glad to have voted already and I am hoping that many people will vote for Democrats like I did so we can stop listening to the lying and whining of "you know who"! Red, I can't wait for the election to be over and hope I like the results!

  14. I learned from Trump and Vance that lying is OK because it draws attention to their issues. Of course if you are a lying liar that could make sense. It just makes me mad.
I have voted. Now I immediately get rid of all of the political stuff coming on my email and messages. I care a lot about the outcome of this election, but voting is about all I can do now.

  15. So sorry you're having to go through the hue and cry of our elections. It's bad enough down here. But soon (or probably much later) it will all be over. And may one of the two go to prison eventually.

  18. I think everyone is tired of it. I watch our local news for the weather only and then turn it off. And the political texts, if "stop" actually unsubscribed further texts that would be nice. So spammy and disrespectful.

  22. I've said before that Canadians know and understand American politics better than a lot of Americans. The ugliness and misinformation on this election cycle is crazy! I can't stand listening to everything that's going on and I'm holding my breath.
