Every year I post about April snow. Yesterday was that April snow day.
It started in the morning as a little rain. Through out the day there were odd times that there were few snowflakes. Sometimes huge flakes which I call snow balls. About 7 PM it started to snow heavily. Snow very quickly stayed on the ground and didn't melt. It snowed until some time after midnight.
This morning we had about 10 cm (4 in) of new snow and visibility was very poor.
The good thing about this snow was that there was very little wind. We can get a blizzard in April with high winds.
Here are a few views from this morning.
Beautiful snow, but can Spring come for you there now?
ReplyDeleteWe should get one or two more good snows.
DeleteOh Red Deer skies, you’ve done it again,
ReplyDeleteWith snow in April — not if, but when!
Big fluffy snowballs fell from above,
A late spring gift we never quite love.
No blizzard winds? Well that’s a perk —
Mother Nature chose charm over berserk!
So thanks for the pics and snowy report,
Alberta’s spring is winter’s last sport!
John
Thanks John. I enjoy the poetic comments.
DeleteBut it IS pretty, isn't it?! So white and clean . . . and you know it's not going to last, which makes it more bearable. We get April snow, too!
ReplyDeleteMost of it melted the next day.
DeleteAy yi yi, Red. No words.
ReplyDeleteNot even any bad words?
DeleteVery pretty....if chilly!
ReplyDeleteIt was very mild...just below freezing.
DeleteWow! That's a lot of snow. Hopefully it's your last one until next winter.
ReplyDeleteWe can get more in April and May.
DeleteI guess that snow is just cold rain. Maybe this will be your last snowfall of the year - until the autumn at least.
ReplyDeleteIt won't be our last snow!
DeleteIt's very pretty but probably not for long!
ReplyDeleteYou're right. It melted the next day.
DeleteWhoa! Looks a bit icy. Stay safe. Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteIt was very icy in the morning.
DeleteIt’s funny how the same snowfall seems much prettier in December. It will go up to 15 here today, and I don’t see any snow in the forecast.
ReplyDeleteMaybe winter is over for you.
DeleteI can see some blue skies in those winter like pictures, Red. I'll bet the snow will be long gone before today is over.
ReplyDeleteIt will take at least a couple of days to melt.
DeleteWell, at least you are used to it, Red. Hope it melts quickly and you have no more snow this Spring!
ReplyDeleteYou're right. It comes with the territory.
DeleteThe snow looks so beautiful on the trees but enough already!
ReplyDeleteThe snow was wet so it stuck to the trees.
DeleteMy condolences. My entire garden is up and growing fast down here!
ReplyDeleteNo worries. We get very long days and catch up to you.
DeleteIt does look very pretty. Hopefully, it will soon disperse.
ReplyDeleteIt takes a couple of days to melt.
DeleteAll that snow does make for some beautiful views there! (NewRobin13)
ReplyDeleteThe snow was wet so it stuck to the trees.
DeletePretty snow scenes and photos. I would hope it melts fast.
ReplyDeleteTake care, have a great day!
It takes a couple of days to melt.
DeleteHope you don't send it this way however if you doit will melt the next day...maybe. Sure is pretty!
ReplyDeleteI think this one swung in from Oregon and when it hits the mountains and rises, the air cools and we get precipitation.
DeleteWell, here's hoping this is the last one of the season!
ReplyDeleteIt won't be the last.
DeleteThe trees look so pretty decked out in snow.
ReplyDeleteThe snow was wet so it stuck to the trees.
DeleteOh my. It is pretty, but tiresome!
ReplyDeleteI am thinking while I type this comment on Thursday morning, all that snow is gone! It does look pretty against the blue sky!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos of your snow!
ReplyDeleteStill snowing ?
ReplyDeleteI was thinking of spring in your area instead dear Red !
