CANADIAN ELECTION

Tomorrow is the federal election in Canada.

It's been an interesting story compared to many elections here. Our elections tend to be  little boring.   We have three main parties and a number of small parties to make things interesting. We usually have the liberal party govern for a few years and then we change to the Conservative Party of Canada.

This time we've had the liberal party for about 8 years. The leader became shop worn and was not liked by the public or his party. The CP's went up in the polls. If an election was held in January, the CP's would have won by a landslide.

Suddenly the unpopular Liberal leader resigned and in a few weeks the liberal party went up in the polls. Cp party disappeared in the polling and the liberal party regained it's status as the leader. The Cp party is in the same situation as the liberals a few months ago. they have a leader who is not very popular.

So tomorrow we will find out who gets to lead our government.

What I've found is that there is a tremendous amount of misinformation spread around. One does not know what is close to the truth.

  1. Good to see all leaders together at a press conference promoting Canadian goods...all letting each other speak, listening and not bad mouthing...refreshing!

    1. That does happen sometimes. It's supposed to happen that way.

  2. The Liberals sagged, the polls looked grim,
The Tories danced — their chances prim!
But lo! A twist — the leader's out,
And now the Libs are back about.

    The CPC, with faces glum,
Now hum a sad and tuneless hum.
Their polls have drooped, their hopes have flown,
Their leader sits upon the throne... alone.

Tomorrow's votes will stir the stew,
Of red and blue — and purple too!
    Misinformation's had its say,
But truth might stumble in today.

  5. I read this morning that the dislike for our president has helped your liberal candidates. I hope the election goes smoothly and your country stays strong.

    1. I'm not sure how much Trump helped or hindered. He changed his mind every day.

  7. Sadly, you can always tell a politician is lying by watching their mouth and seeing if it moves.

I wish we had three strong parties instead of only two. I think that would solve a lot of our political/social problems occurring these last ten years or so.

  10. I was just reading about this today, how the parties have swapped places in popularity and the liberals are gaining ground once again. I assume that's partly because the Canadians want someone to counter Trump.

    1. Yes, they want somebody to counter Trump but the PC leader is not liked.

  11. I voted today, and I hope that I voted for the right party. The future of Canada as we know it may be at stake.... but I hope that we will never ever be the 51st state.

    1. I'm sure we will not be the 51st state but it is worrisome.

  13. Hoping for good results, tonight, Red! I voted in the advance polls "just in case" something happened to prevent me from voting today. The turnout at the advance polls was stunning - 25% higher than last election. People are definitely engaged this time around.

  15. Dealing with our leader has had an affect on your politics. We had supplied an example of what not to elect.
