I worked hard for a few days deleting photos. I got into the swing of things. I saw a pattern forming and I knew which photos should be deleted without having to think too much.
I found that I took many snow photos. Well ,why wouldn't you take snow shots when we have snow for a good part of the year? So close your eyes and delete the snow photos. Some of the snow photos were good.
I also discovered that I had many scenic photos. Many of them were of the same place with little difference. I tried to take photos of flowers. Although I took many flower photos very few were worth a look.
So I ended up keeping photos with family in them.
I also have to admit that I got sidelined. I started looking at photos. Photos of my kids when they were cute little guys. They are still cute with some gray hair. Well looking at photos sidelined my project for one day. today I was terribly busy and didn't get at my project.
So I hope that I get some deletions done tomorrow.
It is hard to delete photos. You don't want to delete memories that they represent. I need to have a clearout too..when your new laptop can't do software updates because there isn't enough memory....there is something to be said for physical photo prints!
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteGreat photos, I always enjoy looking back at my photos. Many happy memories. Take care, enjoy your day!
Deleting files can take time, especially when we stop and reminisce. It's good if you can devote many hours or a day at a time to do it . Then you'll make good progress like you seem to be doing now.
ReplyDeleteIt's all too easy to be swept up in memories, but why not? Photographs are meant to be reminders of times past.
ReplyDeleteYou remind me that I still have more slides to sort and scan. I don’t seem to get around to the job, and there’s really not a huge amount left.
ReplyDeleteOver the last decade, I have inherited dozens of albums full of photos from several different families. In the process of weeding photos out to lighten the load, I realized that all their scenic photos meant nothing to me and the photos I cherished were those that had them or other family members in them.
ReplyDeleteThat got me to thinking about my photos, which I strive to take without people in them. Thus they will likely not mean much to my kids or future people and they will likely get tossed too. Since this realization, I have been trying to take more photos of my family.
Oh, a person can certainly get distracted while looking at old family photos. They bring back so many sweet memories, Red! What's the rush? Take your time and enjoy those old photos.
ReplyDeleteI came here to say just the same! Enjoy your happy little jaunt down memory lane!
DeleteYou look like Mr. Kline when I went to school! Lovely photo of you and your wife.
ReplyDeleteKeep the photo of you and your wife, and the Lady Slipper!
ReplyDeleteThe first photo is a great one. Saver indeed!
ReplyDeleteLots of good memories in older photos!
ReplyDeleteAh yes, any decluttering effort, even digital, can be over taken by trips down memory lane. As it should be.
ReplyDeleteI like the lily photo and the gravel road leading on an adventure
Lovely photos, especially of the two of you. I find it so hard to get rid of photos, even the bad ones.
ReplyDeleteGood memories from those old photos, those were the days.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy seeing all the photos you share with us! I look back at my photos but usually do so through my blog posts rather than in the albums on my computer.
ReplyDeleteWhat a coincidence dear Red that we lost power for one hour and I sat with my phone with same agenda but instead deleting I started to old family photos 🥹 yes and it has happened many times actually so in this project I am slower than turtle
ReplyDeleteYou and your wife look lovely ♥️
That's part of the fun of cleaning out the old photo archives -- going through all the pictures!
ReplyDeleteOh, there some great ones there, Red.
