Sometimes there are very few opportunities for photos.  Sometimes thee are opportunities but your too slow to take advantage of the,.

Well, photos fell into my lap this week.

Usually I have jack rabbit photos. These critters were a little bigger than jack rabbits.

I was going for a walk a few days ago. I got around the bend from my house and laying down a few  feet from the road was a cow moose. She  was about 150 m from my house and about 40 m from me. I had a good look at her and talked to her a bit. She was not going to get up and go anywhere. I walked a little further and here twins were there.

I continued on my walk. I got back to the house and suddenly thought. What am I doing? Why aren't  I taking photos? I hurried, got the camera and got out where I saw the moose. Two photos  and my camera batteries were dead. So hurry back to the house and put in new batteries. I went back out and the moose were still there. It was very bright so really difficult to get photos. You just had to point and shoot.

While taking photos four white tailed deer came along. So I also have photos of deer.

So yesterday you saw the first digital phots I took and today you see the last digital phots I took.

  1. Oh wow, how great is that? I have only seen moose when we have traveled north and that's been some time ago. But I still haven't gotten over the thrill of seeing them. Thanks for sharing these beauties, and the deer which we do see here occasionally, the white tails. Happy Easter if you're celebrating. If not have a wonderful day and week ahead.

  2. I'm envisioning what the moose is thinking, totally entertained by your going back and forth to your house; even called her deer friends to come watch you. Glad you didn't get charged by the mama moose. Linda in Kansas

  3. Hi Red, congrats and thanks for sharing the pictures. My favorite is the last one, with the couple and little one in a stroller. This is definitely something I’m not going to see in Seattle. 😊 Now, I know you’re not answering questions anymore, but I’m so curious … the snow in the pictures … is that what’s left of snow that’s been there all winter? If yes, when does the snow usually go away in Red Deer? It seems like early April is late. Take care and have a good week ahead. John

  11. It looks like the deer would appreciate more snow melt and the greening of the grass.
    Moose are BIG visitors. Wow!
