I kept a journal from 1979 t0 1982. I wish I had kept a journal for all my adult years.
I found that when I go went back to the journals , the whole day popped into my head not just the notes in the journal. Now that doesn't happen so much anymore. I should have kept rereading the journals.
So for your reading pleasure I will give you my journal post from April 18, 1978.
I always included a comment on the weather. We thought swimming was very important so had the kids in swimming lessons. So it was a busy day when my son went to cubs after swimming lessons. I usually made a comment on birds.
So that's some of what happened 46 years ago.
My daughter inherited her grandfather's journals from his navy years. She said that his bored at sea posts were hysterical. She never realized he had such a sense of humor.
ReplyDeleteI have an unbroken line of journals starting with my grandfather back around 1950, through my father and now mine. They are my most treasured items.
ReplyDeleteLife was so very busy when my kids were young. I have kept journals on and off in the past but don't bother now. I think your blog is a type of journal, Red, as you share so many of your thoughts and actions and what's going on in your world (and the weather).
ReplyDeleteIt's cool that you did that and kept them.
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteJournals are great memory keepers! Take care, have a great day and happy week ahead.
Thanks for sharing your journal. Fun to read what you were doing back in the day.
ReplyDeleteHope you will tell us why you stopped keeping a journal and where were you living from 79 to 82?
ReplyDeleteI've not kept a journal! Where does the time go?
ReplyDeleteI have tried several times to start journaling, but I could never stick with it.
ReplyDeleteLove your journal:)
ReplyDeleteIt's always fun to go back and read stuff like that. I've kept journals all my life and I can go all the way back to seventh grade if I want to!
ReplyDeleteMy wife keeps a journal and has for the last decade. I sometimes wished I did but my photos serve me well with the memories.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had just a journal too . I tried several times but the habit didn't stick. Now I think my blog, which i have been writing since 2007, is my journal.
ReplyDeleteI kept journals for years... decades. I also kept separate journals for the kids. But now... I blog.
