Last week Mr Pudding from Yorkshire Pudding lamented that blogging seemed to have slowed down. I have a similar feeling. People don't seem to be posting as often or commenting as often.
So this post is an opportunity for me to admit that I'm one of the guilty people who are not posting as often as I used to. I've been running on empty when it comes to topics. If I don't have anything worth while to say I should say nothing. At least, that's what my Mom used to tell us.
Summer is a busy time and that interferes with blogging.
So I will take Mr Puddings comments to heart and try to pay a little more attention to my blog.
Some times we have to look at our blog list. I think we would be surprised to see how many people are not blogging anymore.
I have noticed that too. I still post every day which I enjoy. It’s fun to look back at what we have been doing on certain days. I always enjoy comments but certainly don’t expect them on every post, though I love getting them. Life can keep us all busy.
ReplyDeleteI like your blog posts whenever you want them to appear! Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteI have decided to blog every other day which is a fair compromise, otherwise you start to worry about what to say every day.
ReplyDeleteI think part of the problem is that Blogger's feeds haven't been working correctly. So even when someone does post, the feed doesn't go out to trigger an update on everyone else's blog list. This has been an ongoing malfunction in their system for a while now. People may be blogging less, or we may simply not be getting the notifications.
ReplyDeleteOnly 60 blogposts in 2026 Keith! You need a rocket under you sir. You have been blogging for eighteen years and this is your window on the world so please don't draw the curtains! Homework projects (I know you have covered some of these already):-
ReplyDelete1) How I met The Micro Manager
2) Memories of Esk in the summertime
3) Memories of Esk in the wintertime
4) My neighbours
5) My true thoughts about the current president of the USA
6) A photowalk around Downtown Red Deer
7) Red Deer Museum + Art Gallery tour
8) Sunnybrook Farm Museum
9) A close encounter with a bear
10) Why I am proud to be a Canadian
I find that the more I post, the more posts I think of but I have slowed down because I just dont have the time I once did.
ReplyDeleteIf we enjoy what we do, that is what counts
Bloggers do come and go. If I happen to look at an old blog, I may not even remember the commenters.
ReplyDeleteI am still here Red! Summertime happens and people are on Vacations and busy!
ReplyDeleteIt is sad to see people drifting away from blogging, especially those going to fb. Almost impossible to follow properly or look back to previous writings. Quite a few are going over to Substack and Patreon. You don't have to pay to read them either
ReplyDeleteI think you are right about bloggers posting less. Maybe it's the state of the world - it might be hard to come up with happy topics when we are all so worried. I'm a commenter, not a blogger so I appreciate the effort of those that do post even if it isn't very often. :)
ReplyDeleteMy impression is that blogging ebbs and flows. Sometimes, life just gets in the way, and that's as it should be.
ReplyDeleteI agree too. Seems like less blogging and less comments, but that's Ok with me. I try to blog once a week, but probably have little of consequence to say. And I probably comment even less... although I do read more posts than comment. I NEED to write... so it helps me get stuff out of my head... whether any one reads it or not. But I do like comments. So, do what you feel is best for you...
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI only do one post a week on Saturdays! I do try to visit and comment on followers when I have the time. Blogging should be a fun thing to do.
have a great weekend.
It could be also that we are just getting old, and slowing down is what we do. I know I am.
ReplyDeleteEveryone is distracted by current events, I think.
ReplyDeleteI've definitely slowed down for some time. I only post 2x a week now. I still do a lot of commenting on other blogs however I have noticed that I receive far fewer blog comments than I did when I did a lot more commenting. I just don't have the same energy or time that I once did.
ReplyDeleteI notice too people are not blogging as often or have stopped blogging. I enjoy reading what people in other locations are doing and I especially like seeing their photos, I always learn something new!
ReplyDeleteThe challenge is to ensure that new people take it up!
ReplyDeleteI think you're right about looking at our blogrolls. So many familiar names have disappeared over the years. I've been blogging since 2002, and it really does seem like many people migrated to social media instead. I'm glad there are still those of us who enjoy blogging and keeping that sense of community alive.

ReplyDeleteMaybe instead of waiting for the perfect topic, try writing about everyday moments or simple observations. Those are often the posts readers connect with the most. The important thing isn't posting every day , and it's staying connected with your readers.
