SOME GOOD SOME BAD

We have  been extremely dry for the last three summers. Because of modern farming practices, farmers were able to grow crops.

However, when it comes to ornamentals there was a challenge. Many of these plants have not been developed for dry conditions. Most people stopped  watering grass. If you walked over my  grass for the last three years it was crunchy.

So seven days ago it rained...lots of rain. the first day we had 3 and 3/4 inches of in. It rained

more until we  had about 5 in. of rain. Rain like this benefits the whole system.

Well, wouldn't you know it, there's a down  side to the rain. Mosquito eggs have been sitting there waiting for moisture so that they could hatch. So seven days after the rain we have mosquitoes. I wear hearing aides  so when mosquitoes land on the hearing aides or come close to them the buzz  is amplified.

So tonight on my walk I had many mosquitoes land on the hearing aides.

  2. I feel for you! It gets wet here...and the wind drops..the midgies are out. It starts to warm up...the house flies and bluebottles are out!
Are people planting more ornamentals that will cope with the weather and climate now?

  4. Ah Red, the rain has blessed the land,
    the grass can sing again—
but now the skeeters found your ears
and brought their own marching band!

  7. We could use more rain here, we are still short.
    The mosquitoes are not welcome.
Take care, Happy Monday! Have a great week!

  8. Well, at least with the hearing aids you get a little warning that the mosquitoes are coming!

  9. Well, I've never had that problem. Those buggers just bite me, and then I itch. They find me tasty. I guess.

  10. I've had hearing aids since 7th grade. Never had that problem. Guess a repellant soaked hat might help, or gently wiping some repellant on your aids. Are you getting bitten on your outer ears? Kind of funny, but not if you get bit. Complain to your hearing aid audiologist! It will make their day. Hang little bug zappers on the hat too. Linda in Kansas

  12. Thankful for the rain, but I definitely do not like the mosquitoes. We have biting flies here...about the same amount of annoyance!

  13. We are having quite a bit of rain here. We also live next to a swamp. Skeeters are a problem. John's poem was funny.

  16. When I ponder on such matters I realise that life is complicated because nothing is good or bad thing ,person or event here
Everything is designed to appear with multiple meanings and consequences. In short everything is entitled two types of results good and bad ,no escape sadly
We wait for winter desperately but they bring numerous insects and mosquitoes are majority of them 😞
