We received about 8 cm (3 in.) of snow yesterday. It was beautiful snow as it came down heavily in the evening so in the street lights made it look as if the sky was full of snow. The snow was light and dry. I shoveled about 9 :00 PM in case we got more later on.

This morning the trees were laden with snow. Now if I'd been out half an hour earlier there would have been more snow on the trees. I also found out that I have to play with the camera so that the snow on the tree branches would show up better. I thought the brilliant sunshine would give me brilliant snow pictures. Not that easy!
Like they say, "There's snow business like snow business..."!! The pictures are great. Way down here we don't get snow very often, so thanks for sharing! I got to enjoy yours and didn't have to lift a shovel. But to be honest, I've NEVER seen enough snow that we had to shovel.
Red the snow in the trees is so pretty, you captured it very well. I love seeing winter from this perspective, I don't have to put on two layers to go out and shovel. Mind you Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without snow, that's the one time of year I NEED snow in my life.
I enjoyed it thoroughly my friend, and even more so because it was there and not here. It is blue skies and higher than normal temperatures over here, so looking at your splendid snow photographs is even more enjoyable.
They are lovely pictures, Red. I also like the stunning blue sky behind them. You made me think of the fact that only us Americans are still using inches and feet, everybody else is so much more modern! :-)
The blue sky and bright sunshine were the two things that took me out. I didn't get what I wanted and have some learning to do. I wouldn't really call the metric modern although it was devised after the English system. The metric system was based on science rather than the English system which was based on things that varied.
I do love the snow in your life. And I'm glad it is with you and not us. We are beautiful here today after horrible side wind snow two days ago. What snow there was is not melting.

Lovely shots, Red. Every time we get a bit of a snowfall (which hasn't been more than about 2cm at a time) it melts very shortly afterward. This has been the winter that never was.
PS... I'll ask about what so many are struggling with the last few days. Would you consider disabling word verification on your blog? It's become a much more difficult endeavor to read it and get it right recently. Darn Blogger! It would make commenting on your blog much easier. Just a thought. :)
Good to know that the damn verification business is going. So hard to tell the diffence between an "i" and Capital "I", a one the number and an l - the letter "l" that is.
Well lovely snow shots, but you can keep it. ha ha. This summer in Brisbane has been really weird - only two "sauna" type nights, but summer is soon over, next month is Autumn. Just heaps of darn rain - you really can watch the grass grow. Cheers Colin
Beautiful photo's! I have passed by before but seem to have 'lost' you. Lots to read here, and some nice looking Blogs on your list... luckily it looks like rain outside, maybe I'll have another cup of coffee and bide a while :)

ReplyDeleteLike your take off on "Snow business" I've been south in our winter so can get away from snow and enjoy green grass for awhile. Love Hawaii.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, Red. We haven't had enough snow this winter and I miss it.
ReplyDeleteYour time will come! Winter isn't over yet.

ReplyDeleteHave a fantastic week and Happy Family Day!
Yes I can see the tears in your eyes for missing snow. However , forget about snow. You are living a lifetime opportunity.

ReplyDeleteI suppose it's "We want what we don't have." I envy your green grass.

ReplyDeleteI did enjoy your snow! Ours is hard as rock, with melt, and warmish days.
ReplyDeleteI feel spring over the horizon!
Cheers from Cottage Country!
Rock hard snow isn't nice or "pretty." I know that spring for me is still quite a time off. I mustn't get excited about spring!
ReplyDeleteI love snow...and yours is beautiful...
ReplyDeleteThanks. The snow was truly beautiful but I didn't catch what I wanted to.

I was looking for something else in the pictures. Maybe another time. My word verification is going. Yes it's really a challenge.

Colin we both waste too much electricity...I keep my house too warm and you try to cool yours. We're a couple of wimps!

Thanks for following my blog. Funny thing about rain..it's best to stay inside. Snow you can go out and you don't get wet.
DeleteI enjoyed your snow pictures Red. I like the second picture. Cheers, Ruby
ReplyDeletethanks Ruby. There was more snow on the tree about a half hour earlier.
