HAPPY CANADA DAY !
Canada officially became a country on July 1 1867. It had 4 provinces...Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Quebec and Ontario.
It was a country in name only. It had control over local issues and then there were strings attached. Gradually growth took place. Now we have ten provinces. We have our own supreme court. We completely control our own affairs. We don't have a Queen anymore. We are completely independent.
We now have ten provinces and 3 territories.
We've come a long way baby!
Congratulations you didn't have to fight the French or us for it but you helped out when the Germans got naughty.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks and have a good day!
We're kind of a patient bunch. Things have changed with the idiots we have in parliament now.
DeleteHAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY, good neighbors!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteHappy Canada Day. You have a right to feel proud!
ReplyDeleteThank you. We have to learn to be a little more open about being proud. We're a little quiet about it.
DeleteAnd a great day it was here indeed - rain held off and there was a sea of red n white all through the downtown n lots going on. Now maybe, just maybe if the rain holds off a few hours more ,there will be fireworks tonight :)
ReplyDeleteGreat that you went out and celebrated.
DeleteHAPPY CANADA DAY, Red!!!

ReplyDeleteTilley hats come very highly raecommended. I hope you like it.
DeleteWe celebrated by staying at home. The road traffic was crazy. Speeding, passing, fireworks to scare the cats! sigh
ReplyDeleteCheers from Cottage Country!
I'm always a stay at homer when it comes to crowds.
DeleteHappy Canada Day Red! I hope you get to have a great picnic or something! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks. I didn't do anything but there are many events that are put on.
DeleteWe've come a long way babe, eh? ;)
ReplyDeleteHope you had a fine day, Red.
Happy Canada Day to you and all my other Canadian friends. And as a small present (!) I have sent you my son who, along with his girlfriend, is wandering the woods and valleys of Whistler in BC at the moment.
ReplyDeleteI'm late Red but do hope you had a great day!
ReplyDeleteRed truth be told I'm sitting on the fence now in regards to celebrations on July 1st; I went this year for the fireworks and photos but my heart isn't into the celebrations. I'm not saying I'm not proud to be a part of Canada and to have been blessed to be born in such an amazingly beautiful country... I think that since I've educated myself on the history of Canada and on my culture that I have very mixed emotions as to what transpired and what continues to transpire. I feel if I celebrate Canada Day that it's like celebrating colonialism and there's no celebrating this. Does this make any sense?
ReplyDeleteEither way I had fun taking photos and I'm proud of who I am, Aboriginal heritage especially!
Have yourself a wonderful weekend! I hope you all enjoy one another's company and have plenty of laughs!
