More Garden Party

Our city has a very active arts community. There's all kinds of music from a small symphony orchestra to senior jug bands. Two theatre companies are active and the college puts on many plays in their arts program. And then there's the visual artists. This group has their own center and gallery. They conduct many classes and artists use the facility to do some of their work as in kilns for ceramics. There are several excellent galleries in town.

It seems to me that there's a quote something like "You can judge a society by the way they support their artists." Our artists are very active. I hope that they are supported. I was part of an art show once and a surprising number of works were sold.

So at the Mayor's Garden Party the other day there were four artists doing their thing in an effort to publicize the local arts council. The director had forgotten her camera so since I was standing around,

I was conscripted to take some photos so that they could be used in their newsletter.

I know that some of the bloggers I follow are artists. They are all interesting.

  1. So you were the only person standing around with a camera? More likely they really wanted YOU, the Red artist. :-)

    1. The director knows me well so that's easy Red artist? I'm one of the least talented as far as art is concerned.

    1. Well, I certainly consider music in the arts area. I'll bet the rest of them wish they could sing.

    1. Many people had cameras at this event. The director knows me well so no problem to ask me.

  8. Art feeds the soul both in viewing and in creation...a community without art has starved souls.

  10. Our town is know for Artist's as well and the college here is
    Art .

I love to see other people's art and yes you do feel envious at times.

I have a rest in entries on my blog. Summer is here so I like to be off computer and doing other things Red. Thank you for stopping in. Great takes. Do you see more artists have those silly tattoos especially ladies. To me they spoil the look when they have arms done and some have chests done. At one time for ladies they had ankles with a rose. Now they have bodies mostly covered.

    1. As an artist you would get more out of other people's art. Hey, those tattoos are art???

  11. We have a lot of artists and artisans around here, too. It really adds to a community. I find it relaxing to just sit, draw, and think about little, especially with impending healthcare appointments...

    1. More people should do what you do as it challenges you to think a bit creatively.
