It seems to me that there's a quote something like "You can judge a society by the way they support their artists." Our artists are very active. I hope that they are supported. I was part of an art show once and a surprising number of works were sold.
So at the Mayor's Garden Party the other day there were four artists doing their thing in an effort to publicize the local arts council. The director had forgotten her camera so since I was standing around,
Calligraphy
I know that some of the bloggers I follow are artists. They are all interesting.
So you were the only person standing around with a camera? More likely they really wanted YOU, the Red artist. :-)
ReplyDeleteThe director knows me well so that's easy Red artist? I'm one of the least talented as far as art is concerned.
DeleteArtists bring a great richness to life.
ReplyDeleteYou've got that right. Lots of artists in view on the coast.
DeleteI enjoy artists and am usually a little envious.
ReplyDeleteI'm not envious but I admire their talent.
DeleteYou did a great job! We need to support our artists for they give us imagination and creativity.
ReplyDeleteArtists certainly make us take a second look at things.
DeleteEveryone in my family paints and carves, I cannot. I am the singer. I love the artists in the park. We do things like this during our Festival in August. Great photos Red.
ReplyDeleteWell, I certainly consider music in the arts area. I'll bet the rest of them wish they could sing.
DeleteYou made some very nice pictures of the event.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I also got some good advise from someone too.
DeleteHi Red, I think they are pretty lucky you were there with your camera. Interesting to see the artists at work.
ReplyDeleteMany people had cameras at this event. The director knows me well so no problem to ask me.
DeleteArt feeds the soul both in viewing and in creation...a community without art has starved souls.
ReplyDeleteYou're so right!
DeleteI can't imagine a world without art. It certainly adds beauty to it. Your area sounds very much like ours. It is very active in the arts.
ReplyDeleteArt history is eye opening. I must take a class some day.
DeleteOur town is know for Artist's as well and the college here is
ReplyDeleteArt .
I love to see other people's art and yes you do feel envious at times.
I have a rest in entries on my blog. Summer is here so I like to be off computer and doing other things Red. Thank you for stopping in. Great takes. Do you see more artists have those silly tattoos especially ladies. To me they spoil the look when they have arms done and some have chests done. At one time for ladies they had ankles with a rose. Now they have bodies mostly covered.
As an artist you would get more out of other people's art. Hey, those tattoos are art???
DeleteWe have a lot of artists and artisans around here, too. It really adds to a community. I find it relaxing to just sit, draw, and think about little, especially with impending healthcare appointments...
ReplyDeleteMore people should do what you do as it challenges you to think a bit creatively.
DeleteYou are lucky to have all this wealth around you. I have to drive quite a ways to see anything.
ReplyDeleteThese people could be seen in public more than they are.
DeleteI do enjoy watching artists at work.
ReplyDeleteYes, more of them should work in the public.
DeleteAlways fun to see artists at work...nice photos Red! :)
ReplyDeleteThese people were happy to be out and have their photos taken.
DeleteThanks for saring your local art scene with us.
ReplyDeleteI certainly thought of you when I did this post.
Deletethat's really cool.
ReplyDeleteIt takes a cool artist to recognize other cool artists.
DeleteI was well and truly behind the door when they were dipping into the Arts bag but I scored when it came to crafts. I do so admire arty people. Great that the artists do their thing for all to share.
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job "covering" the garden party Red. It's wonderful that the artists are supported in the community. That isn't always the case.
ReplyDeleteI have always enjoyed the way people express their art. There is so much talent out there. Thank you for sharing these Red.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could draw or paint. I do scrapbook, and that is a tad crafty, but not really. You got some good shots, Red.
ReplyDeleteNice event, and you took a lot of nice photos!
ReplyDeleteSo great to see the arts alive and well!! Speaking of which, I really need to get out my watercolours...
ReplyDeleteLots of talent there (including the photographer...:)
ReplyDeleteIt's always fun to watch the artist's work. There was a nice variety in your local show.
