Some of you noticed that there were some major glitches in my last post as far as photos were concerned. My apologies for causing anxiety and frustration. All of you who mentioned a problem with photos were extremely tactful. Thank you. If you hadn't mentioned that something was amiss , I'd have never known that there was a problem.
I was trying to move photos on the blog post directly from email. I found out I couldn't do it. Moving photos from an email to a post can probably be done but I have no idea how it's done. I still don't understand why I can't use the clipboard and use cut and paste?
Now since I have a new computer, I've been moving photos to the new computer. Most of it has been easy peasy. However , there were some photos that just weren't showing up. I did two downloads or uploads. I'm not sure which is which. I searched for the photos. I looked all over the place . I went around and around. I really became frustrated. I had moved photos from my new camera and it was very easy. I did the same with the old camera, but some seemed to be missing.
I was about exhausted and had almost decided to ask my in house advisor for advice. Last night while spending a sleepless couple of hours I got it!!! I remembered that I had another SD card from the old camera Yes, that' where my missing photos were. So today the remaining photos were loaded onto the computer.
Now I did notice that for many of my photos there were three of each photo? Yes, that's what you get for downloading three times when you think something isn't working. It works alright.
So it's not the dang computer. It's the operator.
As I mentioned before the learning curve has been steep! It's just what's needed to keep a 78 year old brain from turning into mush!
They say "use it or lose it" . . . you've certainly been using it so that bodes well for your brain, Red! Well done to get that figured out.
ReplyDeleteWell, it came to me in the middle of the night when I remembered the other disk.
DeleteI suspect you're much more computer savvy than I am.
ReplyDeleteNo way !
DeleteThat 78 year old brain is definitely NOT mush. It's obviously working!
ReplyDeleteThanks. It's that great Alberta air!
DeleteThat 78 year old brain is definitely NOT mush. It's obviously working!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you figured it out. I don't think your brain is mushy. Rather it is active and always learning new things.
ReplyDeleteI like to be active. I don't like just sitting down and watching TV.
DeleteYes, computers and technique becomes more and more difficult for out brains..
ReplyDeleteI'm just a little on the old side to have a good knowledge. Today 2 or 3 year olds get the parents smart phone and find what they want.
DeleteWhat a sense of achievement you must have! Good work. I love figuring out technology that some silly young man invented to try and make things 'better!'
ReplyDeleteYes, new stuff is developed every day. That's why we have updates every day.
Deletewe all learn from our mistakes. It can be tough but later you will laugh because it becomes old hand.
ReplyDeleteI laugh at this one because the solution was very simple.
Deleteit's where the photos are hosted. photos on email are not generally designed to be hosted on a public site.
ReplyDeleteSo what do I do with photos sent by email?
DeleteHi Red, Had to smile about this one. Love that finding 3 copies ... that's happened to me before!
ReplyDeleteFinding the three copies just put another kink in the problem.
DeleteI had to laugh at why those photos weren't there. I have made such errors in trying to get pictures from one device to another, and now that my smartphone doubles as my only camera, the problem is solved for me. You are definitely more computer savvy than many of us, Red. Plus I enjoy your grumblings about it as much as anything. :-)
ReplyDeleteI get frustrated but in the end you have to stand back and accept that you were the problem.
DeleteI disagree -- I think the operator is just fine, it IS dang computer!
ReplyDeleteYes, the computers could come to our rescue sometimes.
DeleteWhen a computer starts to misbehave on me, my vocabulary becomes, well... colourful.
ReplyDeleteOh I think there's been lots of colorful language in this computer shack.
DeleteI think these computer frustrations are sent to teach us patience, I guess :) Glad you worked yours out. Always takes time to get used to a new one. I don't like change and will stick to my old dinosaur hopefully for a long time.
ReplyDeleteIt's too bad we couldn't break into the new computer slowly.
DeleteOh Red you are so cool. I would totally lose it over the technological foul ups. Washington and the Middle East I can handle. Not this kind of stuff..... I have though admitted that the computer in my pickup truck is a lot smarter than me...:(
ReplyDeleteYes, new vehicles these days have a lot of sensors to tell the vehicle what to do.
DeleteIt's long and cumbersome but I have found the best way to move photos is to download from where they are and then upload to where you want them. When i think there must be a better way I spend more time looking for it than just doing things the long way!
ReplyDeleteAt least you get it done.
DeleteI don't know...looks like your brain is working very well at 78. You're always figuring things out.
ReplyDeleteYou've got to stay in the game.
DeleteWe have been dealing with technology today, and of course we are in way over our heads.
ReplyDeleteA call to Samsung because our Smart TV is no longer smart had us deciding it was not worth the costly repair and since the tv works fine we'll just get along without Internet movies for now.
Our desktop computer is with the Geek Squad, who just called because there is so much data on it that we need another external hard drive. Tom has just gone down to the store to sort it out. We are hoping that we have a refreshed computer that works like it should, with all of my photos and email addresses and Tom's genealogical data intact, without spending too much money.
Technology is a baffling necessity
The Geek squad prices really bother me. I hope you get things sorted out.
DeleteI hate to tell you this but "Dang" computers have received many negative reviews. They are made in Vietnam - often by child labourers - before being shipped over to North America. You should have chosen a different brand. Cheap is very rarely the best.
ReplyDeleteHello, I think you are doing a wonderful job. I think it is the new Windows operating system that is awful, so many glitches. I am glad you found your SD card. Thank you so much for your nice comment. Have a happy day and week ahead!
ReplyDeleteWell done Red, you figured out another issue for yourself. If you just google the problem you are having, you'll find other people who had the same issues and your solution most likely will e found. I have to step away from my laptop when I have problems and like you I lay in bed thinking of what to try and fix it. I usually can come up with the answer and sometimes it is so obvious but I didn't think of it. I also save the answers (via bookmarks) to my problem just in case it happens again.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day!
My Fav guy. You have not visited me Red. Go Into My Imagination and click on it. It will open to the new blog. Just changed the name to MY IMAGINATION
ReplyDeleteOr click on my new photo profile. I have commented on many of yours. Maybe you have not seen yet.
It seems like computer related things are starting to get more complicated. I've often told myself that it's just because I'm getting older and not as sharp as I used to be. However, then I stumbled upon a random thought in my head, that said manufacturers aren't making them for "us" anymore. They are making them for the younger crowd these days. You know the like our grandkids who are growing up with built in computer skills (or so it seams).
ReplyDeleteI have no idea if what I just said is true or not, but I'm sticking with it because it explains my loss of technical prowess in a way that I find MUCH more palatable.
Try try again! Glad you are making it work:)
ReplyDeleteI am glad that finally things turned positive for you Red!
