OK , I'll back up bit. My ability in photography is limited at best. I had forgotten how to use my camera telephoto. I have a 34 zoom so not much. I wanted to take some shots of the harvest moon. Another problem I have is to keep the camera still. When you're 80 , it's a big problem.
So Friday evening I went out on my step and leaned against the house wall for support and tried to get moon shots. So what ? Skies get dark!
Into every life a little cloud must come. There were thin clouds going across the moon.
Did I say I hadn't found my zoom for a while. The zoom taught me that it focuses on what's closer.
I couldn't quite get the people in the balloon.
This time the camera picked up the yellow and black sign and almost ignored the tree branch
Sometimes I focus on something large that's the same distance from the lens as the thing I want to shoot, then move the camera to the shot I want. Works a lot of the time, but wouldn't work for those balloon shots.
ReplyDeleteThose are great moon pictures. I like the ones with the cloud passing by especially well.
I need all the tips I can handle. thanks.
DeleteThose are great moon shots! I have tried to get pictures of the moon but they never come out. I am not a good photographer though and I know what you mean about holding the camera still - my biggest problem these days!
ReplyDeleteI do like trying to get harvest moon shots.
DeleteGood moon shots are hard to do.
ReplyDeleteSo I found out.
DeleteI have never been able to get moon shots as good as these. Great photos! Sometimes I think not being able to focus on the thing I was trying to focus on, come out fun and interesting. I enjoyed your balloon shots and especially enjoyed seeing all those Canadian flags.
ReplyDeleteI'm a sucker for balloon photos. I like balloons.
DeleteYour zoom is much better than mine. I think you did very well with the moon photos.
ReplyDeleteI haven't taken many photos lately. It's time I get to work again.
DeleteHello Red, your moon photos are great. It is beautiful. We missed seeing the full moon here, it was too cloudy. The hot air balloon was a neat sight to see. Enjoy your day, wishing you a great new week ahead!
ReplyDeleteThanks. I like the big red moons.
DeleteWhat fun! Great shots. My videocamera focuses in the background.
ReplyDeleteThe trick I learned from a pro is to use a tripod and set the timer. That way you can let go, and there is no shaking.
Yes , I know about a tripod but I have other things I want.
DeleteNice moon shots, Red. I gave up trying to use a zoom awhile back, but it sure would be nice to get pictures like your moon shots. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks. Hey, my moon shots re for sale!!!
DeleteZoom lenses are tricky, and as for shooting at night -- well, holding the camera still in low light is hard for anyone at ANY age!
ReplyDeleteI find it hard to focus a zoom.
DeleteYour moon shots are wonderful. I have tried and tried and cannot get a good picture of the moon. Of course, the fact that the camera I use is a little purple 99.00 Kodak, is probably why. Love the pretty balloon too.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I just found my zoom again so tried it.
DeleteYour zoom shots are great! Love seeing the moon and the balloon.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I can't resist balloons either.
DeleteI have never been able to get particularly good moon shots.
ReplyDeleteMine are't what I was looking for.
DeleteIt's good to experiment with one's camera and to learn from one's mistakes. Digital photography makes that learning process much easier and cheaper than when we all relied on expensive rolls of film.
ReplyDeleteYes, I had a 35 for quite a few years. It took great photos for a green horn.
DeleteYou got some gret moon shots. Mine are always terrible, maybe I need to lean up against something for more support. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks. I was lucky on this one.
DeleteGreat shots Red! It was cloudy here...and I wanted to see that moon too!
ReplyDeletethese are powerful and excellent images dear Red :)
ReplyDeletei think you made accurate of your camera here
Those are really wonderful photos, Red. I haven't used my regular camera in such a long time. It's all iPhone photos now.
ReplyDeleteYou did better than you thought Red. I missed the harvest moon, but as I no longer have cameras with zoom lenses it was good to see your shots.
ReplyDeleteI like the moon photos, I am always taking photos of the moon.
