One thing that would have made things easier to understand is that the sun set at 4:52 PM . So at 6:00 Pm when I took the photos it was basically dark. There were just some great colors showing and I wanted to try and pick them up.
I received some good advice. It's too late to look through your camera for the right settings. By the time you find info on your camera the scene is gone. But I get it that I have to look these things up and learn them before the scene presents itself.
I hate to admit it but I took these photos out of my window. Since I live in an urban area, if I went outside at ground level I would not see any of this. I know that there are great places in the country that would give me a good view.
A tripod. Yes, a tripod would be very helpful instead of leaning up against a wall, fence or car.
So I will continue trying things and I hope you continue with pointers and advice.
Did I ever say I liked clouds?
I think the most important thing is to do exactly what YOU want on YOUR blog. I could take better pictures if I read the camera manual, but I'm just not that interested. I could take better pictures if I got a different camera, but I don't really care about perfect pictures. It just doesn't matter that much to me. I have other ways I'd rather spend my time. I found out most things about my camera just by trial and error and trying different settings. But my experiments were out of true curiosity, not out of a feeling that I *should* be taking better pictures. If you are super interested in improving your photos, have at it :) But if you're not, don't feel pushed into it.
ReplyDeleteI love cloud photos of all kinds. That last one is a stunner!
I'm a little loosy - goosy but generally I like to improve things. I also think that I'm writing to an audience and should consider who they are.
DeleteLovely cloud photos. Good thing you are still willing and able to learn new things.
ReplyDeleteWe get some awesome summer cumulus clouds. It's a little bumpy when you fly over them.
DeleteSome lovely cloud photos in today's collection. I especially like the last one, with the tower of cloud.
ReplyDeleteFor sunsets (and sunrises) if you check out you camera settings and maybe get a small flexible tripod you will be well on the way to capturing some really fine sunsets.
Alphie
We get some great cumulus clouds in the summer.
DeleteNo you didn't but I like clouds too! Good job!
ReplyDeleteThanks and thanks for visiting Hiawatha House.
Delete...Red, my best advice is to keep looking up! I should live so long to be able to learn all the stuff my camera is capable of doing. Why do things need to be so complex?
ReplyDeleteYes, I always say the camera knows how to do more things than I'll ever figure out or want.
DeleteNice cloud shots, Red. I love to see other people's photo art. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks. Some day there's lots of stuff out there and you just have to be outside.
DeleteClouds are so delightful. Great photos.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteLove seeing the clouds there. So beautiful. It's been foggy here for five days, so seeing your blue skies and clouds is a wonderful reminder.
ReplyDeleteThese are summer skies. I thought I needed to look at summer skies.
DeleteTo be honest I like them all. Great selection. Thumbs Up.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteThese clouds are amazing. I love clouds.
ReplyDeleteSummer afternoons can give some great cloud formations.
DeleteI have attempted to use manual settings on my DSLR but I just find it annoying. Auto settings are easy, turn out well, and I like spontaneity.
ReplyDeleteI just don't bother much with those tricky dark photos.
I'm on auto all the time but if I look at the screen it gives me lots of information.
DeleteThose are some fantastic sky and clouds shots.
ReplyDeleteWhen the clouds are out there it's easy.
DeleteBeautiful shots!
ReplyDeleteThanks. I thought I needed some summer skies.
DeleteI like clouds too! Yours were so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI love your cloud shots!
ReplyDeleteWell I share your liking for clouds!
ReplyDeleteHello Red, I do not own a tripod either. Your clouds are beautiful, love the sky and photos. Enjoy your Sunday, have a great new week.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid I looked at clouds a lot more than I do now. Perhaps it's time to pay attention again.
ReplyDeleteI'm always taking photos out of my window. In fact, I think I'll post one too one of these days.
ReplyDeleteThat last photo is amazing! Such great clouds.
ReplyDeletePhotography is all about practice, practice, practice. The more you use your camera, the more you're learn. And the better your photos will get.
These are absolutely absorbing images Red :)
ReplyDeletei too love clouds and can't resist to capture them every time i see them
