KEEPING CHEERFUL IN LOCK DOWN.

I'm sure that many people have been surprised to find that quarantine has bothered them. For me I didn't think I would be bothered and to be fair it's not really a big deal.

However, we should be mindful and do things that keep up our morale.

Some people are getting out and doing some great walks. Many of the trails are almost deserted. Mr Pudding from Yorkshire Pudding is going on great walks.

Other people double down on crafts. Some people are going at house cleaning like there's no tomorrow.

I have recommended that you look for some music to listen to. I have two groups that I email once a week.

I'm sure that there are many different things people are doing while we are kept separate.

I was fortunate yesterday to find a gold mine on FaceBook. One of my students from 82-83 put on photos from his yearbook. He put on all the home room photos. We had about 20 home rooms in the school. He got much reaction from the photos . Some of the people had lost contact with each other so were excited to meet some of their old friends. Much news was exchanged . A lot of laughing was involved. Willie just kept putting photos on all day. I was going to tell him to quit because it was my bedtime. However , I caught up with things today. Thanks Will for a  few pleasant  hours on Facebook.

I can also take a few silly photos. Our neighbors gave us a plant for Easter so in the photo you not only get the plant but me as well.

The original wasn't much better than the one I played with.

How are you doing in the "lock up"? What have you found to do that helps to make the time go by in a pleasant manner?

  1. Actually I do anything that comes to mind at any one moment... crafts, blogging, reading, cooking and occasionally cleaning. When my husband is gaming away on the boob tube downstairs I have the other TV on for company and background...

  3. The flowers are a lovely gift. You have very nice neighbors. That's a great picture of you too Red!

I always manage to stay busy doing something. I've spent a lot of time reading blogs lately, reading books, doing housework and laundry and other necessary chores. I also play around on the computer and do some sewing. I keep saying I'm going to scan some more photographs but I still have not gotten to that yet. As soon as it warms up a little more I'll be cutting grass and doing yard work. So yes, I do stay busy with or without the isolation.

    1. Key word is "stay" some people have lots to do but don't get at it.

  4. I'm doing well. I'm getting more rest than I usually do. Now that virtually every activity is restricted or obsolete, my mind is able to be a rest. I'm keeping busy inside with lots of household things. I'm going slower on the reading. The photo of yo and the plant is very nice in both B & W and in colour.

    1. We forget how many activities we are in . This morning I had to sign some checks. We had to set up a procedure for safety. Seems funny that I've known the treasurer for more tha 40 years and we had to stay apart.

  5. The blooms are gorgeous! How I wish I had some hiking trails near by...but alas suburbia! I do own a mean treadmill though. :)

    1. Our little city has many great bike and walking trails although it's still pretty icy.

  6. We have been getting out in our garden. We would like to sort out our attic but the city council have shut down all waste facilities and all charity shops are closed too. It is a lovely, sunny morning here in Yorkshire. I need to get off my fat ass and go for another walk - but I am keeping within the city limits. That's my compromise. I have had a premonition that COVID 19 will take me so I do not want to spend my last days cooped up in the house. I need the paths like a fish needs the water.

  8. I get out and do some birding every day, and I think that is what keeps me sane. I have lots to do inside, and I have not been bored even for an instant, but it sure is good to escape the confines of the house.

  11. I am being lazy during lockdown. Instead of going for daily walks, I tend to let the day slip away, watching movies (yesterday I rewatched Finding Nemo) and spend some time out on my front porch puttering around with my flowers. I watch very little TV because it seems always to make me feel worse. :-(

  13. We've been taking our neighborhood walks and working the garden. Roger tends to the garden most of the time, and I run around with the camera photographing the flowers and insects. I love the story of your students on Facebook. What a delightful reunion you all had. Great photo of you too!

  16. It's not bothering me much to stay at home...it's just the once a week or so lunch dates with my sister that I miss alot, but we text and call and facetime alot so it's not that bad. I haven't had not one single urge to super clean and I feel a bit lazy about that! :) Have a great week and stay safe!

  19. We're pretty much doing the same things as before self-isolation with, of course, the inability to meet with and speak to neighbors. We go for walks, check on interesting things online, read, keep up with family and friends through texts, emails and calls. And, I read what other bloggers are doing. Nice pic of you and the flowers, Red.

  21. Those are two real nice photos of you Red and great you got in touch with people on Facebook. The days seems to be flying by. I am an introvert so I think it is easier on introverts than extroverts, or so I have read. While not being able to get together with our son and other family members and friends, I am thankful for Facetime, phone calls and texting. I have also been hearing from old friends which has been really nice. We take our walks, sit outside when the sun is shining - strange weather we're having right now so we might have to wait a while for that. We read, take photographs, play on the computer and talk a lot. The days go quickly and I hope the same for everyone out there, but like everyone I am looking forward to the day when we can all return to normal.

  22. Our routine hasn't changed much. I do like to be informed of the latest developments around the world but right now it's all focused on the virus and that gets overwhelming. I'm reading and walking and working and doing the regular household things and that fills the day.

What a good idea your former student had! I expect he has brought a lot of joy to many classmates and teachers.

  23. It's always good to be prepared like have the weaving ready.

  24. We're good. We have slowed down a bit, but with gardening and walking and reading and blogging and keeping up with social media, we easily fill the days.

  25. Our routine at home has only slightly been changed. We've always been able to keep busy around the house. It's the social contact and going out to places that has stopped. I do miss it but I'm managing very well. We take walks when it's not raining. That makes a world of difference.

  26. We always seem to find something to fill our days:) Stay safe Red! Just think about all that shopping in real stores you are missing:)

i think what matters most is that people learn to enjoy moment in and and the place they have at the moment and how amazing that you can do it too :)
