I went bird watching with a group for the first time in 2020. As you know I lead a local birdwatching group here. I make up a schedule and publicize the activity. I made up a schedule in May and found somebody to lead in the field. There was no one to lead in the field yesterday so I went out.
It was a real treat to get out. I didn't know that I missed it so much.
I took photos of the area we visited. My camera isn't good enough for birds. We saw 25 species yesterday in 2 hours.
So here's where we found the birds.
Hello Red,
ReplyDeleteI am sure it felt good to get out and lead the birding group. Looks like a nice area for your outing. Are they Coots you have captured in your photos? Enjoy your day, wishing you a great week!
Yes, it felt good to be out with others. Yes , they are American coots.
DeleteThat setting is good for the spirit as well as the body and mind.
ReplyDeleteIt's great that a natural area has been set aside.
DeleteI'm sure that it was good to get out and quite safe by now.
ReplyDeleteGood to get out but I will never be sure of the safety
DeleteLove the views there. What a beautiful day for birdwatching. Twenty-five species! That's wonderful.
ReplyDeleteSome clouds put in an appearance to help make things look better.
Delete25 species in 2 hours sounds pretty impressive! Anything really unusual?
ReplyDeleteNothing out of the ordinary. We were surprised to see a warbler and swallows.
DeleteWhat a beautiful location to bird watch.
ReplyDeleteIt's great that this land has been set aside and protected.
DeleteI'm so glad you were able to get out with your birding group! The pictures are very nice. I especially like the wooded areas. Maybe you can go out more often before it gets too cold there. If you drive separately and don't get too close it should be safe. You could all wear masks as well. It really helps us all to feel better when we can get out like that in the fresh air.
ReplyDeleteThe two people I was with were very mindful of keeping well spaced.
DeleteIt sounds like it was rejuvenating.
ReplyDeleteBirding is always rejuvenating and invigorating.
DeleteLooks like a good combination of wide open space and some forest as well. I can see why you were glad to get out there. Next time I hope to see a picture of the lake where you got the pics of the ducks. Nice post, Red.
ReplyDeleteIt,s a good rea. The coot was on a pond of 2 or 3 acres.
DeleteA lovely ramble, and birds to boot!
ReplyDeleteRamble is a good word for what we did.
DeleteIt doesn't take much to make us happy during this time of COVID. Getting out and seeing people and picking up a familiar activity is a real treat.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you got to do this, Red. I know how much it has meant to you in earlier times. And I love the pictures. All of them. :-)
ReplyDeleteSome very simple things can make us feel better.
ReplyDeleteGood to get out and about! That is a good number of different birds to see:)
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a wonderful area to walk, the birds would make an added attraction. So glad you got out and enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteThe Micromanager probably remembers that the term "bird" is often used in England as a slang term for a woman. Did you spot any birds sunbathing?
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed coming along on your first birding walk since COVID. It’s too hot and buggy here so my birdwatching is done from the windows. Fortunately we have quite a population to entertain us right here.
ReplyDeleteLovely to see the green and sunny woods.
ReplyDeleteBeing outside in these beautiful surroundings, wonderful! Bird watching too! A great way to spend time with people of like mind. Very enjoyable photos, thank you Red!
