A phrase " Comfort of the House" is sometimes used in formal conventions. By that someone is requesting that something be improved such as the sound system.
I would like to request that some bloggers increase the size of their print. I don't find the fine print impossible to read but it's difficult.
There is one blogger I follow but haven't read for a couple of years because his type is just too small. He's a good blogger but I don't read him.
So make your type at least the size of mine.
I've never heard of that term "Comfort of the House." I thought it might have meant to tell us where the bathrooms were...
ReplyDeleteYou may know that you can enlarge a tiny print item by clicking on the 3 vertical dots at the top right of your screen. About in the middle of that drop-down menu, you can enlarge what you see by %.
I love your entries, but did you know that the blue ink on your blog is hard to read for older eyes? It kind of fades, and black (is there navy blue?) is easier for glaucoma readers. Since you mentioned the topic, I thought I'd ask. That would be "Comfort of the Eyes" I guess. Thanks, Linda in Kansas
I've learned a few things from your comment. I've been told that the blue is hard for some to read. Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving a super comment.
DeleteSome blogs are difficult to read. I read some in Feedly (feedly.com) and then click on the actual post if I want to comment. On your own blog, if you make your text black, it will be ever easier to read. Blue isn't all that easy.
ReplyDeleteI hear you about the blue being hard to read.
DeleteI find the same thing. However, I find I cannot change the size of the print in my posts no matter what I do.
ReplyDeleteInteresting that whatever size you make the print on the blog the comments appear in smaller print, as does anything on the sidebar etc. The thing that really bugs me is when the line of print goes right from one side of my screen to the other and I end up missing lines or reading the same line twice. I think some of these factors rather depend on what device you use to read blogs.
ReplyDeleteI wanted longer lines but they would go across the whole page and I didn't like that.
DeleteOn any blog, you can make the print bigger on your screen by holding down the "Ctrl" key and pressing the "+" key as many times as needed. I hope this helps you.
ReplyDeleteInteresting. I tried it! It works!
DeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI always try to enlarge my print. I have gone back to some post and made the print larger. Take care, enjoy your day!
I have to set print size with every post.
DeleteYou should be able to increase the size on your computer or iPad in order to read it.
ReplyDeleteI don't use my eye pad to read blogs but that would work to make things better.
DeleteMy eyes could read pretty much anything right up to my early forties but these days I need bigger fonts and good contrast. There's a brand of curry paste I use which has purple print on red background. It might as well be heiroglyphics
ReplyDeleteYou give some good tips on what to do to make better print. Thanks.
DeleteA trick I use on occasion is to simply copy and paste the post into a word document where I can increase the size or usually in my case, change the text to something readable and then if I want to comment, go back to the original post.
ReplyDeleteYour trick is much too complicated for me but yes, it does work.
DeleteWell, thanks to Drum Major for the helpful hint about enlarging what I see on my screen. I never knew about that and it is so helpful! Great news!
ReplyDeleteIt's surprising the things I've learned on this post.
DeleteI have a hard time with small print too. So, I just make my screen view bigger on some sites, so I can see what I'm trying to read.
ReplyDeleteI never thought of that one.
DeleteI gotta say, your blue type is hard for me to see, Red. I love my iPad though as I can make it real big with a swish of my two fingers. If mine is too small let me know because I can’t tell how it shows up on different machines.
ReplyDeleteI hear ya! The blue has to go or I find a much darker blue.
DeleteYour header is always huge, but your actual blog post seems like a normal font size. The blue color is actually restful to my eyes. :-)
ReplyDeleteI made my titles to be large. I probably couldn't find out to make them smaller now!
DeleteI also find reading with the light blue font is very hard for me so I read your post first in my reader (feedly) because its font is black and then I go to your blog to comment. Another way to enlarge the font on any page is use the control (ctrl) button with the + button, it will enlarge a page for you and when you want to decease it just use the minus sign with the control.
ReplyDeletethanks for telling me that the blue is difficult to read. I will change it.
DeleteI tend to read most blogs on my phone.
ReplyDeleteThat's handy as you can read any time you want.
DeleteGood suggestion! Please, you or anyone else, let me know if the print on my blog is too small, or hard to read for any other reason. The print here is plenty big, but I do find the blue a little difficult; could use more contrast.
ReplyDeleteI hear ya! the blue is gone soon.
DeleteI agree wholeheartedly! Medicines should come with a magnifying glass!
ReplyDeleteMy magnifying glass is used quite often. My flashlight is also used quite a bit.
DeleteI agree. There are blogs I just don't read because the font is too small.
ReplyDeleteNow I see that there are several ways to make the print larger as you read it.
DeleteWait, are you saying this blogger's type is SMALLER than that last line of yours?! Because that's REALLY small.
ReplyDeleteI just use whatever default size Blogger gives me. If I am guilty of small type please let me know!
I made the last Line small for effect. It's easy to enlarge the print when you write your post.
DeleteGood suggestion!
ReplyDeleteI learned a lot with this post.
DeleteHi Red, Which browser do you use? I use Chrome and can easily enlarge the print on any page I visit. Follow the link below for full instructions ...
ReplyDeletehttps://support.google.com/chrome/answer/96810?
Part of the issue is that regardless of what size font I use to publish my blog, some parts will still be in tiny print. For example, these comments on Hiawatha House. While the size of print in your part of the post is nice and large, these comments are printed in small font. However, I can make them easier to read by following the instructions in the link. Good luck.
I use chrome and yes you can make things larger but I didn't think about using it with blogger. I must look and see if I can make the comment print larger.
ReplyDeleteI hope my print is easy to read Red. I make it the largest possible because of my own eyesight. I read with interest John's Island comments. I will try that myself. I know if I press the Ctrl and plus sign buttons at the same time, my page enlarges to where I can read the comments better. Then if I need to go back to normal I press the Ctrol and minus button to return it to a smaller size.
ReplyDeleteA good request, coloured fonts bother me sometimes.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if anybody else has said this but hold down the Control button on your keyboard (Ctrl). Then simultaneously press your + button which on the top row with = below it. Magically you will see the text on screen increasing in size. Very helpful with small text.
ReplyDeleteActually, if someone has too small a print, I just increase the size (ZOOM in) on that person's blog on my computer.
ReplyDeletei don't know if it is about my blog either dear Red ,if it is please mention this in comment i will surely increase the size of font .
