WEATHER REPORT : DEC.1 RED DEER

We are not the only people experiencing some very, very different weather due to climate change.

Most of the time we've had snow for four or five weeks by now. It's not wet but dry snow. Most years our temperatures are much lower than we have today. Our average daily high for Dec.1 is minus 3. Our average daily low for Dec. 1 is minus 12. I couldn't find record high and lows .

What's going on today?   Well, we don't have any snow and it's raining. Ordinarily our last rain is in late October. It was plus 4 C when I took these photos at 10:30 this morning. It's supposed to snow later on today but it will be wet snow not the powdery snow. Our low forecast for tonight is minus 2.

These two photos look across the street  from my house. It is very, very dry here and we need moisture but not this stuff. It makes life difficult for flora and fauna.

  8. It is such a surprise to read about the weather there. Climate change is really unfolding before our eyes. Not much rain here yet although a bit of a sprinkling in the forecast for next week. We'll see if that happens.

  9. I am not sure what is going on. I did see something about it being an El Nino year, or maybe it was La Nina, or maybe I was dreaming. 😊

  12. Weather here seems to be getting more variable and less predictable. We had what for us is quite a deep snowfall for this time of year (4 inches) but it all melted overnight. And now it's freezing again.

  13. The climate is certainly changing. We’ve had weeks of rain here. A few rain free hours are the exception these days.

  14. We have had more snow than usual here. I find it odd that so many can find reason to disbelieve what is happening before our very eyes. Remember when seeing used to believing?

  15. That sounds terribly cold to me. It was 70 degrees here today and it is very very dry. All of North Carolina in under a "no burn" order.

  16. It is sure interesting to see how climate change is affecting different parts of the world. Here in Seattle, we have had more rain between September 1 and November 30 than ever recorded before for the same 3 month period. I agree with Linda Reeder's comment.
