I like photo blogs and there are many of them to pick from. They can be photo journals that picture everyday life.
Some blogs focus on topics like birds, landscapes. sunrises or sunsets, trips attractions such as parks. . Some blogs show pictures of their local area everyday. Apparently they have many photos to choose from as they can pick excellent photos to choose from.
I like birds so I follow several blogs that feature birds. Along with the photos these bloggers have a great knowledge of birds.
Some bloggers concentrate on sunrises and sunsets. They show many beautiful skies and post their photos on other sites. Everyday the sunrise and sunset is different.
Some bloggers give a great descriptions of some of the places they tour. It's almost like going along with them.
Some photo bloggers post one photo every day. Some may concentrate on street scenes or wildlife scenes. Some are just random shots.
Then there are photographers who want to illustrate and teach how to take good photos.
Some photographers just want a good place to show off their photos.
I don't mind admitting that I like photo blogs.
Notice that I haven't singled any one blogger out. If I did, I would likely leave out some excellent bloggers.

DeleteYes, I do follow some good photo bloggers but, on the whole, I tend to follow good blogs which often have photos.

DeleteA good photo blog is a joy. Blogging reflects personal choices, of course, but for some it seems to be an exercise in narcissism; they continually post more and more pictures of themselves, and I suspect that most readers find that less than interesting.

DeleteI’m just now seeing your last two posts … Jan 3 and 6 … and given that they are both about blogging this comment will be for both of those posts. Regarding journaling … My grandmother kept a daily diary in spiral bound notebooks for the last few decades of her life. After she passed away I inherited those notebooks. She and I were very close and it is fascinating for me to look back and see what she wrote about me during the first twenty years or so of my life. Her writings encouraged me to start journaling on my own, which I did, off and on, for many years. During all of that time I was into photography and taking lots of photos of daily activities. As digital technology came about, and prospered, after a few years I realized I had thousands of photos stored on hard drives. During that same period of time the internet evolved and social media became popular. Around 2011 it seemed like a good idea for me to start up a blog. The intent would be to make it sort of like a photo journal. It would give me a good way to organize my photos and memories. So, thanks to my grandmother’s inspiration, I can now look back on the last 10 years of posts on John’s Island. The photos are all organized and stored in the cloud. Yes, I think I would categorize John’s Island as a photo blog, and, you asked if I followed others. Yes, indeed I do and perhaps I follow more of those types of blogs than any other.

DeleteI do like it when photos are included in a blog. It gives me a chance to see places in the world that I would never get to visit. It is also nice to get a glimpse into their lives and adventures. Sometimes bloggers seem like penpals from around the world that are reaching out to me and I enjoy meeting them!

DeleteI love looking at photography online, whether in blog form or on other web sites like Flickr. (Blogs are nice because you often get accompanying descriptions which enrich the photos.)

ReplyDeleteCould you also help me please - I have been many times to Canada over the years and have bought quite a lot of Inuit art in various forms - Rachel questions my use of Inuit and says what is wrong with eskimo. I told her I would ask you. Everything I have bought has been labelled Inuit art - has eskimo suddenly become a word not to use?
I don't follow many photography blogs. I never know what to say about the photos and the comment section is probably the thing that keeps me coming back!

My initial idea of a photo blog was to take excellent photos that would take your breath away. I still would like to think that the bowl of oranges is well executed. Since I have another blog I figure the photo blog had better have a best photo that I can find for the day. I like photo blogs too.
