Every Easter, by Good Sunday, the Micro Manager has a few Easter decorations scattered around. These decorations are few and quite ancient. They come from the time our children were little.
So these decorations have to be quite old because my kids are in their fifties.
You can see from the photos that we have a real flair for decorating.
Now my brother emailed back and said, "are those the Easter bunnies that Grandma Peake ( my Grandma) made? The Micro Manager said, "Your Mom gave them to me and said she didn't make them but she didn't say who did make them."
I'm not sure what generation the bunnies were made for but I'm sure my brother will give us the correct information.
So some simple decorations have raised some historical questions.
Your Micro Manager definitely gets into the spirit of the season. This is so much fun. Those bunnies are adorable. My daughter did have an Easter egg hunt for our grandsons.
ReplyDeleteEaster is more fun with kids.
DeleteYou made me laugh about your flair for decorating!
ReplyDeleteI love them, they are anti-capitalist, they are historic and meaningful to the family.
I hope you had a good easter
Funny but I had no idea of the origin of the little bunnies.
DeleteI'm finding that most kids are so caring about their childhood items until they're in their 30s and 40s. Of my parent's 6 grandkids, 2 hated some creepy looking Easter bunnies that 2 cousins had. Now, another cousin thought they were cool and wants them! Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteIt takes us a long time to mature and realize what's good value.
DeleteI think older decorations are fun because they take us back to an earlier time. I hope you get your historical questions answered!
ReplyDeleteI think many more of the handcraft things are made than a few years ago.
DeleteGood to hand these down the generations isn't it.
ReplyDeleteYes, hand them down but with information.
DeleteYou do indeed have a flair for decorating rooms! Why not set up an interior decorating company - "KLINES DESIGNS". I am sure you will be inundated with requests from the trendy residents of Red Deer.
ReplyDeleteProbably inundated with requests to stay away.
DeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteThe decorations are cute. I hope you had a very happy and blessed Easter! Take care, enjoy your day and the week ahead.
Sparse but cute.
DeleteI have never pondered how old Easter traditions were here until now after reading this post.
ReplyDeleteWe bring these things out once a year for a short time and we do not always think about the significance.
DeleteYou do better with Easter decorations than we do!
ReplyDeleteI think there are more things downstairs in a few bags . we seriously have to get rid of some of our treasures.
Deletei will have a child in her 50s this year. 😱
ReplyDeleteWe are now ancient!
DeleteHow sweet that you have decorations with a history!
ReplyDeleteI lived away so I missed many of the family things.
DeleteNice ... I think we all treasure some of those old decorations from earlier days when our kids were young (and so were we!).
ReplyDeleteI treasure them now but I was single for a long time and did not spend much time with the family.
DeleteThat is more decorations than we put up! :)
ReplyDeleteBut I know that you have many tings in your inventory.
DeleteSweet little decorations! Those little bunnies do look handmade! You will have to pass them on to your own children one day. Hope you find out their history to pass along with them.
ReplyDeleteYour avocado green carpet reminds me of my Mom. That was her favorite color and when we moved in 1966 our whole house had lots of avocado green carpeting, wallpaper, appliances...!
Yes , it's definitely a 60's color.
DeleteIt's really so sweet to see those Easter decorations that have such a nice long history in your family.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest with you, it's the first time I really noticed them.
DeleteNice to see some Easter decorations, especially the mysterious homemade bunnies!
ReplyDeletePeople made hand crafted articles in those days and they still do today.
DeleteThey are not the sort of decorations you can just pick up in any shop. So much the better.
ReplyDeleteI stay away from the tacky stuff in stores.
DeleteDecorations with a historical background, how interesting. You have more decorations than we do, we have none. :)
ReplyDeleteAll these years I didn't know the background of the bunnies.
DeleteSome of my decorations are "historical" too. I have my Easter basket from when I was a young child. They were not disposable back then. Every year the same basket was refilled with a few goodies.
ReplyDeleteYou are the Queen for theme decorations.
DeleteHoliday decorations with memories attached are the best. (Even if we aren’t so sure of the origins anymore!)
ReplyDeleteI was careless on this one and just didn't bother to ask about them.
DeleteIt's great to have these treasures from your Mom.
ReplyDeleteI got very little from home as I was single and didn't partake in many family activities.
DeleteWow. I have some Christmas ornaments that my grandmothers made. They are special to me.
ReplyDeleteThese articles get more special every year.
DeleteIf you learn, you must pass on the maker's name to whoever is appointed bunny guardian.
ReplyDeleteWe know that my grandma made them. I'm not sure who she made them for.
ReplyDeleteYou decorate a lot more than we do! Every since the kids moved out, we don't do as much anymore. We only do more for Christmas.
