Very quietly and all alone my blog counter passed the one million mark today. I told my son in law last weekend that this milestone was about to happen and he said go ahead and tell the blogging world about my number.
I started blogging in 2008. I had no idea what I was doing so for the first six months I was reading blogging for dummies. I didn't post very many times. I had no idea what comments were about. The first person who commented on my blog was Connie from Far Side of Fifty. Maybe she was the millionth customer this afternoon as she still follows my blog. That's quite a record for Connie.
I'm not a prolific poster but do from 110 to 150 posts a year.
What's so fantastic about blogging? The people you meet and make friends with in blog land.
Thanks , my friends , for visiting me and making blogging fun.
Oh I must be a million and ten by now! I always enjoy your blog Red! Congrats on so many visits!!
ReplyDeleteSince you've been posting daily forever , I think you'd be surprised at the number on your counter.
DeleteCongrats on your million milestone. I started blogging around the same time as you, 2007 I think, and you have lots of years and sharing with your blog. I've followed you for many a year.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment and following me silently for a long time.
DeleteCongratulations Red !!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteYay! Congratulations, Red. We started blogging in the same year! Like you, I sure didn't know much about blogging when I started too and didn't know about meeting other bloggers either. I sure am grateful to have met such an adventuresome, fun and interesting fellow retired teacher like you. You have so many interesting life experiences. Here's to another 15 years of blogging! And another million pageviews!
ReplyDeleteThanks. It's turned out to be better and different than I thought.
DeleteCongratulations..it is good to have a faithful core of readers.
ReplyDeleteIt is sad to look at the list of those who have stopped blogging
You make a good point about excellent bloggers who've disappeared.
DeleteI've never kept track of visitors on the three versions of blogs I've had since 2003. I'm not sure I even have readers that span that entire time but I do still have one that goes back beyond 2008 anyway.
ReplyDeleteAt one time, I was pretty good at picking out those blogs that will last and those that won't. Now, pretty much the only blogs still left are those of us who are long timers. It is rare to find someone who just started up a new blog.
Blogger will tell you what your traffic is. You post often and would be surprised what your number would be. You're right .There aren't many new blogers showing up.
DeleteCongratulations Red! A million hits is an enormous number. I have always enjoyed visiting "Hiawatha House" because it is refreshingly unpretentious and most of the content is interesting. I also like the idea of The Micro Manager lurking in the background and no doubt sometimes yelling, "What the hell are you doing Keith?"
ReplyDeleteWithout you, I would never have heard of Red Deer, Alberta. The Mayor should consider giving you the freedom of the city at a special ceremony.
Thanks. I certainly like your blog and comments that make one think. I'm very familiar with the last three mayors. They do a good job and it's tough.
DeleteKeep on rolling along, Red.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Same to you. I need more info on photography.
DeleteCongarts! I started blogging in 2009, I have not been checking my stats. I do enjoy visiting blogs from around the world, a nice way to meet people. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteThanks. You put out a first class blog.
DeleteYou are also a good friend as well as a fellow blogger. That is one thing that makes it all so worthwhile. I should go look and see what my own number might be. I started in 2009.
ReplyDeleteYou're right. It's not so much about the numbers but about the great people we meet. You have lived a very adventuresome life.
DeleteCongratulations, Red, on hitting a million page views! Wow! Well done!
ReplyDeleteThank you. The people I meet are fantastic.
DeleteCongratulations on reaching that million milestone. I love this blogging world and seeing the world through the eyes of my fellow bloggers.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Yes, for some of us there are major differences that we learn from.
DeleteQuite a milestone, Red! Congratulations! May you blog on for many years to come!
ReplyDeleteThanks. Sometimes it can be a challenge to find something to say.
DeleteCongrats of the milestone, a very impressive one too.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I enjoy a little peak at Ireland every day.
DeleteThank YOU for continuing to post, Red.
ReplyDeleteThankyou. Keep them catoons rollin in.
DeleteI have no idea what my data numbers are, but congratulations on yours! You are a successful blogger because your posts are interesting, come from a different part on the continent than most of us, and you reciprocate. Blogging should be a two way street, and yours is,
ReplyDeleteThankyou. It's interesting to drop into your blog every day and read about a very active life.
DeleteCongratulations, Red. You must give to get, as is said, and you give us interesting reading material every time you post.
ReplyDeleteThank you. That's a very huge comment.
DeleteBravo!
ReplyDeleteThankyou. I enjoy your posts everyday.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Red. That is a huge milestone.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Red. I like the little glimpses of the world through the eyes of others, and I enjoy your blog.
ReplyDeleteIn fact...thanks a million!~
ReplyDelete. Now that I am more or less housebound blogging has become an important part of my life. Congratulations on passing that milestone.
ReplyDeleteWow! What a milestone! Congratulations. I love our little blogging community.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Milestones validate us.

ReplyDeleteWow! Congratulations Red!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! That's quite a milestone. The main reason I continue to shop up in the blogging world is for the people!
