BRUSH ALONG THE CREEK

This is not meant to be a post with pretty photos.

I quite often walk the path along this creek about 1 km from my house. The banks are steep and the land has never been developed.

Native species are  there but there are many invasives.

Put that together with all the different soil types and you have a variety of scrubby  vegetation. So in these photos it shows areas with vegetation which struggles with poor conditions.

The second photo is just a poor photo. I swear that the other photos were in better focus in the camera . However it was a very gray day.

  1. I like the quality of light and perspective in the first photo. A curving path draws the walker on to explore what's not yet visible.

    1. Lots of curving trails here. We have about 100 km of trails.

  2. We have the same sort of problem with invasive species (plants and wildlife). Wildfires become a problem. I hope that's not a worry for you all.

    1. You have feral cats that are really creepy and there are wild chickens all over the place.

  3. I think it looks naturally nice. Not such a gray day would make a different view. Linda in Kansas

  5. I can think of creeks like that near my place: native species mixed with weeds. Because it's suburban there's also quite a bit of rubbish around.
The bits of remnant bush around here look a lot greener because of being in the sub tropical zone.
It looks like you can do some pleasant walking there. Are there many birds?

    1. I the summer we have many bird species. In the winter we have lots of birds but only about a dozen species.

  6. I think a lot of areas of our world suffer from invasive species since we routinely prevent things such as forest fires, periodic flooding, etc. that used to keep them in check before we populated the area.

  7. Hello,
It is good to get out even on those gray days. It is sad those invasive species are popping up everywhere. Have a great weekend.

  8. Not much to say about that, it's still not a bad looking place, Red.

    1. There are many differences in a small area. Different soils make a big difference.

  9. The second photo is very busy, so I think your camera had a tough time picking out what to focus on.

  10. It looks like a nice place to walk. Things looks drabby this time of year when there is no sun.

  11. I like hiking at this time of year as you can see farther in all directions without the leaves blocking your view. I like that first photo of the curving road.

  13. These photos could have been taken here - the land and vegetation is much the same. I am thankful for evergreen trees which keep things from being totally gray!

  14. Hi Red, Your photos are just fine. I like seeing the trail there as we move toward winter. Bet you will have some more snow soon. It has been cold but unusually clear and dry here for this time of year. Happy weekend to you.

  15. The photos are more a result of the atmosphere than the focus.

  16. Do you have ticks out your way? I know I have a friend in Washington state who hikes and bikes a great deal. I was shocked when he said that they do not have a tick problem out his way. They are awful here, even after a few frosts.

  17. It looks like my woods. Leaves are almost all down and the skies are gray. Waiting for colder weather.
