DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME

Well, good old daylight savings time has rolled around once again. If daylight savings time was in a popularity contest it would get close to zero.

At one time the change in time did not bother me. I just didn't sense the one hour change ahead or in the fall when we went back to standard time.

However, now the time change does bother me. It takes a few days to get used to it.

Changing clocks doesn't bother me as the micro Manager changes everything but one and that's because she doesn't know how to do it.

Today most of us have a time device which is accurate up to the second. The old wind up clocks would stop and then you were in trouble. You might go a few days with out the time. Once we got phones we could call the central office and get the time.

Dad always had a grandfather clock. Not the tall one but one that sat on the shelf. One of my brothers is the keeper of grandfather clocks.

It was funny going to the old churches as people arrived at times after the service started and sometimes long before the service started.

I now hope that we do away with daylight savings time but I don't think it will happen in my life time.

Right now I'm trying to fool myself about the time I should go to bed

  1. Back when I was working and had to get up and get going in the mornings, it was hard to adjust for a few days. Now I hardly notice it.

  2. Hello,
It does take a few days to get used to the time change.
At least most clocks change on their own, we have to fix the clocks on the microwave and the oven. Take care, enjoy your day and have a great week ahead.

  4. I hate it too Red. I remember how during the war it was two hours, not one - b
presumably to make it light later for folk working the land and such like. It used to be dusk at midnight and go to school as dawn broke Now like you it merely confuses me and alters my sleep pattern. But I suppose it is a case of 'ours not to reason why'..

    1. It also appears as if the reason for daylight saving time has disappeared.

  5. We had our time change this past weekend and I hardly noticed it. Now that I am retired, I have plenty of time to rest if I need to...

  7. I hope we get rid of the “spring ahead” too. I don’t expect it though.

    1. Somehow the politicians don't seem to see a good reason to stop daylight savings time.

    1. We really don't need the change or the pain in the butt.

    2. I will echo Jenn Jilks. And, Red, your reply to her is perfect.

  10. I would love to stay on standard time year round. Maybe one day it will happen. I adjust pretty easily, though.

  11. We passed the law (2017) to no longer do this in CA. Unfortunately we have to wait for federal approval, which makes no sense to me. So that probably means never, haha.

  12. Either I will hardly be able understand why it is so necessary and why people can't decide for themselves. I was much interested in clocks watches and calendar, everything that show movement of the time was fascinating for me.still it's the case

  13. Over here in England we have something called B.S.T. (British Summertime) and it is the equivalent of Daylight Savings Time. I dislike it greatly, see no reason for it and wish they had never introduced it.

  16. I keep telling you, Red, just move to Arizona. The time stays the same and you don't have to shovel sunshine! 😄

  17. LOL at Catalyst! I too will be glad to see the last of Daylight savings. Do you know that the Amish do not change their clocks?

  18. The problem I have with daylight savings changes is because Hawaii doesn't do seasonal time changes so I keep forgetting what the time differences are between us and Chicago. I have to really think so I don't disturb my daughter and family too late at night.
