BAD LUCK

Well, I ran into a little bad luck this week. I only had two issues of bad luck so I'm waiting for the third bad luck happening.

I decide to change the ceru disks on my hearing aids. These disks are meant to trap the ear wax before it gets in the hearing aid. I've always had trouble with this procedure. You are given a device which is to take out the old disk and put in a new one. I tried and I couldn't get it and finally gave up. When I put the hearing aids back on the right one didn't work! The stress level went out the roof. Hearing aids are costly and I was much afraid that I had broken something.

The next morning I was looking in a drawer and found something that I was not familiar with. At first I couldn't even open it. When I did get it open I was surprised to find a different gismo to change the disks. I tried it and it worked like a charm. So the stress evaporated instantly. I forgot that I had been given this device as it would be better than the old one.

Yesterday was a fine day so I decided to walk and take some photos. When I tried to take the first photo the camera didn't work. Lights came on and an image was in the view finder but the camera would not click and take the photo. This blew my stress level up as I thought the camera was finished.

When I got home I decided to check the batteries. What had happened was not like dead batteries. For dead batteries the camera turns off no warning.

Well, I changed the batteries and guess what? Problem solved.

Stress is over. So I didn't get photos for this post.

So I'm anxious again. Isn't bad like supposed to come in threes?

  1. Yes, messing with our hearing aids and trying to do things that could hurt them is nerve-wracking. My pull tab wire bent and went into the air tunnel. I thought it's pulled out totally. One time I thought it totally stopped working. Turns out enough moisture was in the tubing to stop sound. Another reason I like the wire type ones instead of the air tube type. They definitely don't do well if you leave it on the coffee table and a visiting dog big dog thinks it's a chew toy. Everything on it broke with those jaws! Your two things don't really count as broken things, so you don't need to look for the third item. Linda in Kansas

    1. these were not biggies. Many things I can repair. Hearing aid stories from people could fill a book.

  2. Well, I'm glad all of that worked out. Be careful about being too intense about a third episode. You could cause your own bad luck.

    1. I'm pretty laid back and don't worry about bad luck but it makes for a story.

  3. LOL. That last line gave me a laugh. How about this, Red? You've got two ears. The camera WAS the third thing!

  7. Glad to hear you got that hearing aid fixed! And yes, they do seem to come in threes, but maybe it was something so minor you just didn't pay attention to it. Let' hope.

  8. I agree with Linda - you were able to work out your problems so they really weren't bad luck at all, Red. Don't worry about a third thing! What a relief! ;)

  10. Have had the hearing aid difficulty. Couldn't do it no matter how hard I tried. Finally went in to the hearing people and they did it - easily. Said to just bring it in when it needs to be done and they would do it.

  11. Gotta watch that stress level, Red. As my folks used to say, "It'll all come out in the wash."

  14. Uh, great suggestions, but not the wash; don't wash the hearing aids. Dropped mine in a toilet and pulled it out fast. Jumped into a swimming pool once forgetting I had them and my long hair covered it. Both episodes my aides stayed dry. Not sure how. Linda in Kansas

  15. That's OK... We just took care of the 3rd bad luck for you. Art is being driven nuts because the sound suddenly died on our TV and he can't figure out why. It works on his headphones, but not on the TV sound system so I can't hear anything. Sigh...

I don't think Art has those ceru disks on his hearing aids. I'll have to ask him.

  16. We went through that a couple of months ago. We had to get the paperwork out. It didn't help. Joe just went into the store. He was deathly afraid of breaking them, as well.
