In many jurisdictions school has been starting the last few weeks.
Today I was reminded of this yearly event when my grand nieces showed their kids on first day of school photo
The first day of school photo was kind of a ritual. . In looking for photos I found many of my kids. It went from kindergarten to gr. seven or eight. Then they got too big for the back to school photo. I thought I had one where they came to the school I was teaching in and they were both in the same school.
My Mom lined us up on the first day of school and took a photo.
My brother and I starting gr. one and two. I had an abscessed tooth so my face is swollen.
I taught for 37 years so had all these kids who'd just had their pictures taken by their Mom.
Very cute photos of your children and you and your brother.
ReplyDeleteI know there's one when I was with them and they started at my school but I can't find it. .
DeleteIf my mom took pictures of my brother and I on the first day of school, I neither recall nor have seen the picture evidence. But I have a full set for my eldest through her senior year and the youngest through her current grade level.
ReplyDeleteSo you know what these traditional photos are all about.
DeleteThe first day of school photograph is a tradition in so many families. Lovely to look back and gasp at how small and young they were.
ReplyDeleteI thought that they were very tiny too.
DeleteI remember the day I walked my daughter to her first day of kindergarten and the day she left her grandmother’s to do her last nursing exam!
ReplyDeleteThose are great photos, Red! Precious memories.
Yes we have many first day of school photos.
DeleteI did a back to school shoot with my grands maybe five years ago and still have the results on my walls. Then it became a frenzies shoot along with the step sisters on the morning of, and it wasn’t fun anymore. I am still a little miffed at that.
ReplyDeleteThere are some issues with different family dynamics.
DeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteGreat memories and cute photos of your kids. They grow up so fast, my grandsons are both in pre-k now. Take care, have a great day and a happy weekend.
Funny how photos bring back memories.
DeleteSo cute! Full of hope and promise!
ReplyDeleteThey were both bright kids but different.
DeleteI got photos of my grandkids first day of school this year. It is a tradition as you have said. Hope all of the kids have a wonderful year.
ReplyDeleteI don't think teachers are aware of these photos and their importance.
DeleteI love these photos. I have a photo of my son starting grade twelve and his sisters. I still love that photo, despite everything that has happened.
ReplyDeleteThere is some good that comes out of horribly negative circumstances.
DeleteBecause I taught a field course the first week of September I was literally never home to enjoy sending our kids off.
ReplyDeleteI was always a school when my wife took photos of the kids.
DeleteThe memories and photos are priceless.
ReplyDeleteYes, I look at these photos and it's hard to remember them at that stage.
DeleteI don't remember first day of school photos but the entire school had to have pictures taken for the annual.
ReplyDeleteIn our day, many people didn't have cameras so no photos.
DeleteCute photos! It is a tradition!
ReplyDeleteYou are great at photos for occasions.
DeleteI love first day of school pics. I see some on Facebook from my younger friends.
ReplyDeleteAs a teacher, you probably had a tough time to do thee photos as you were already at school.
DeleteWhat a lovely record for people to have of their (or their children's) growing up.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I'm out of touch but I think the annual first day photo is newish in Australia. Certainly in my family there have only been photos on the first ever day of school and first day of high school
If my parents took any pictures of my brother and I on our first day of school, I have never seen them. But then, my mother was a teacher and had a hard enough time getting herself and two kids ready, let alone take a photo! I love the photos you posted, Red. I have similar ones of our kids in elementary school. Once they got to Grade 7, they didn't want photos taken at any time :)
