I'm one of those people who feel very fortunate at this age, to have good health relatively speaking. Yes, I have a balance problem but I can live with that. I do have a carotid artery that has some blockage.
I do much walking in the 4 to 5 km range. Walking really depends on frequency. Sometimes weather and other activities prevent walking.
The birthday numbers at this age are getting big. The number has greater significance. Thinking back gives 2 options. Age18 seems like yesterday or age 18 seems like a long time ago. I guess it depends how I feel on any given day.
Looking forward, I know that the numbers are getting smaller. I'm not one to do some calculations and say my ancestors lived to be this amount. It's an influence but how much I'm not sure.
I will take each day and enjoy my activities and friends and relations.
As I've said I have enjoyed good health in my life.
You're doing well Red. I have a good friend who is 95 and she's been through health challenges but if you ever meet her you would see she is very active and still very vibrant. Those of us who are younger always say that she is busier than we are!
ReplyDeleteSometimes that is what keeps people going is to be active.
DeleteLive each day as it comes! Happy birthday, when it comes.
ReplyDeleteWell that's what I've been doing and it works. I don't get stressed out over things.
DeleteHappy birthday, Red. You deserve a good long life and you are doing it!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I think you make your life.
DeleteCongratulations. I think you are one of the lucky ones. Enjoy the day and those before and after.
ReplyDeleteI am very fortunate with health.
DeleteHappy birthday, Red, er, Keith! You’re you are 17 months ahead of me. Good health is a blessing and anything past “threescore and ten” is a gift. My family background is mixed. Grandparents died at 59 and 95, parents died at 47 and 60, and the aunts and uncles went in their eighties. I am currently in third place in our family’s longevity race. If my health holds I’d like to go at 106, but I guess it’s not up to us. May you “live long and prosper” as Spock said on Star Trek. And keep in blogging!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I don't really get to choose the numbers.
DeleteI have a birthday this month as well. I am thankful for every day! I wish you many more Octobers, Red. Enjoy!
ReplyDelete
Deletethankyou and happy birthday.
Happy birthday! You've done well to reach your age and still be so healthy, so bravo for that.
ReplyDeleteI try to look after myself well and that's just being smart aBOUT THINGS.
DeleteHappy early birthday Red, wishing you good health and many more.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I'll take what's coming. I hope you are well there.
DeleteHappy Birthday Red! You are only as old as you feel!
ReplyDeleteGood advice.Thanks.
DeleteHappy Birthday Mr. Red. Jeepers, I'm a bit younger, but I too have to do the math to remember exactly how old I am sometimes! Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteIt's a good thing we leaRNED HOW TOO add in school.
DeleteWishing you an early happy 85th birthday!
ReplyDeleteThanks
DeleteI hope you have a good one, Red. As one who is only about 6 months younger than you, I can say it's getting difficult because there are fewer people to wish happy birthday to each year!
ReplyDeleteWe also lived in some interesting times.
DeleteYour positive attitude keeps you going, Red. Happy Birthday to you! May you have many happy years ahead!
ReplyDeleteI don't worry about anything.
DeleteI hope you have a great birthday and many more too. Enjoy your special day, Red.
ReplyDeleteThanks. My birthdays have rarely been celebrated.
DeleteHappy Birthday Red, a little bit early. I am 75. Neither of my parents nor my sister made passed their 70s, so I decided to take each day as it comes and enjoy to the fullest. I'm glad you are in good health, and long may it continue to be so.
ReplyDeleteThank you and all the best to you on this journey.
DeleteThose birthday numbers climb the hill,
ReplyDeleteBut laughter keeps them younger still.
So here’s a cheer from blogland crew—
May eighty-seven sneak up too!
Husband Tom was 84 this month. Just recently I have noticed that he is slowing down a bit and I have to keep that in mind, since now he has to do most of the work. He's doing a lot better than I am at 81.
ReplyDeleteYou seem to be doing quite well also also. Happy birthday!
85 and good health is surely something to celebrate, Red. Happy birthday!
ReplyDeleteIt would be a great honor to live until 85... or 86. I've still got a ways to go but I've definitely already lived the majority of my life already. Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteAn early birthday wish to you! I like your attitude and outlook, they are both inspirational and are motivators for me to also live life to the fullest!
ReplyDeleteI hear you about age!
ReplyDelete85 and healthy is an amazing milestone. Celebrate it! Happy birthday!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to you, Red. I hope you continue to have good health and enjoy life.
ReplyDeleteMy dad almost made it to 85 and was physically well right up to a couple of months before his death.
I think we all hope for a healthy life and a fuss free end but we are lucky if we get it

ReplyDeleteMy maternal grandparents lived till mid nineties and they both remained active and healthy dear Red ,my parents reached in their eighties to mid eighties though they spent last few months of their lives suffering from severe health issues sadly!
ReplyDeleteNo doubt you are blessed with good health and in my opinion it’s more because of your healthy attitude 🥰
