Skaters Christmas

Each year we have a special lunch at skating and invite retired skaters to attend. We enjoy seeing retired skaters and the retired skater love to visit with each other.

The recreation dept supplies donuts and we bring potluck goodies.

People are excited to see one another . The old skating enthusiasm is still there.

Lots of good eats

Retired lady skaters

Retired male skaters. The guy across the table is 93 and skated until he was 92.

The last of the pair skaters. Jerry is 88.

  4. This is definitely an up north activity. Ice Skating is not so common in most of our states.

    1. We have good access to arenas so it makes skating easily available.

    1. Life for a retired person is awesome but I do think of those retirees who are limited with health issues.

    1. Bur you're probably pretty handy in a pair of basketball shoes. I never saw a basketball until I was 18!

  10. Boy if I had a nearby skating rink I just might try that again! I used to love ice skating. I would have to tape my ankles up pretty tight though! How fun that you all get together and celebrate good times like that.

  11. I haven't skated since I was 16. I doubt I'd have the courage to start again. It's good to sit down with people of like mind though isn't it?

  12. The skater who is 93 -- he can't be! He certainly proves what good exercise skating is.

  13. Well, considering the ages of those other skaters, you've got a long time ahead to keep those blades in good working order, Red. Love the pictures, and I enjoy this every year from my little corner of the world. :-)

  14. Impressive to say the least, this coming from someone who doesn't skate. I tried but couldn't stand straight up on those blades :(

  18. My parents loved to couples skate. I, on the other hand had weak ankles, didn't like the winter cold and took up basketball as a youth...:)
