TRUMP

         I'm a Canadian.

I take pride in thinking that I mind my own business. I don't pry into other people's business. Other people can live their own lives as long as they don't interfere with my life.

But lately something has been bothering me.  Donald Trump.

I've been watching news coverage of Trump's campaign. The logic Trump uses bothers me as he plays fast and loose with the truth and uses misinformation to back up his ideas. So Trump is an outright racist and is dividing people rather than uniting and proposing policy that would benefit all people.

Trump seems to find it easy to say that people are rapists, criminals and drug dealers as he did with Mexicans. Of course , he uses this to back up his ridiculous proposal to build a fence between Mexico and the U.S. And what I really like is that the Mexicans would pay for the fence.

Trump also has erroneous things to say about Muslims to back his proposal to not let Muslims into the country. All the time Trump forgets that many Muslims live in his country.

Now why I'm really concerned is that his fast and loose logic could influence me. What if Trump decides Canadian water and resources would be nice to have. So he makes the usual charge that Canadians are rapists criminals and drug dealers so this gives him the right to come and take what he wants. And oh ya, he won't let any Canadians enter the U.S. Oops , I guess I won't be able to visit my American daughter anymore!

  1. OH thank you, thank you for this post, Red! Trump has been really bothering me. Actually he scares me. I keep saying what really, really scares me are the people in my country who actually think he should be president. What the heck!!! Why can't they see what a prejudiced, totally awful president he would be?

  3. Teddy Roosevldt said if you want to be an American, then be one, support America and speak English. I guess I am old school...we have to come together as a country and feel safe where ever we go, and some of the mamby pamby candidates out there just won't do that for us. My vote will be for who ever I feel safer with as president:)

    1. We had fear mongering here for ten years with Harper. It was a bunch of crap to separate us and get us to fight each other.

  5. I have heard him speak, I covered the first two debates and went to hear all the candidates involved. He is telling it how he feels, where it seems the others are telling what they feel will appeal to you, not what they plan on doing for true. The more I listened the less I was politically minded.I made commercials for 2 guys last election, and none of their statements became truth.

    1. You need more than two parties to keep these guys a little closer to reality.

    1. The statement is also a complete fallacy as many people do not have any ability whatsoever to do the job.

  7. Uff da, what must the world think of us? I'm shocked and saddened that so many seem to believe Trump's lies and agree with his rants and completely unamerican racist ideas. I'm certainly not proud of my country right now and I want to apologize to the world! Or hide. Or move!

    1. We've just finished 10 years with a loon. Yes, I know it doesn't make you feel very good about your country.

  8. I feel like we've gone down the rabbit hole into an alternate universe this year. How can anyone, anyone take this idiot seriously. Yes, he frightens me, as do the troglodytes that support him.

  9. You took the words right out of my mouth, Red. And what Linda Reeder said in her comment, too: it's scary that there are so many people who support him.

  10. Trump is an egotistical buffoon addicted to attention. He'd make a terrible president, but Ted Cruz scares me more. You can bet I'll be campaigning heavily for Hillary.

  11. No one in their right mind pays attention to this many. He appeals to about 25% of the conservative party and I wonder how long they will follow him. The real problem is that he is a gift to the Democratic party and they are lying low and hoping he stays on top.

  12. I hear the United Kingdom is considering not letting him in the country. I wish we could do the same, but he lives here...

I support a giant wall to keep out Donald Trump and we will trade 1 Trump for 10k refugees

  13. Hi Red, One good thing about the USA is that people can say just about anything they want. The bad thing is some of them will say stuff like Trump does. I don't really think he is going to go anywhere (like the White House) but he does know how to manipulate the media and get almost constant attention. I can't wait to see how it all plays out.

    1. We do have responsibility to think about what we say and be correct. To tell lies and carry on is not what should be said.

  14. he has been making some outrageous statements... including some about my own country, South Africa... but then again, we have a bit of a fool at our helm at the moment too...

  15. Well said Red.
He really is scaring the "shit" out of people south of the Equator.
He should be the perfect patient for a psychiatrist.
He features here, Down Under, as a cartoonist's delight!
    Cheers

  16. It started out as amusing, albeit I've always thought the man to be a repugnant self absorbed ass. Now he's become dangerous. I'm seeing a fascist, particularly in the way his supporters relate to him. He has to be stopped.

I don't think people will be dumb enough to vote him in- but he's poisoning the process in many, many ways.

  17. I find it very funny to read his reasoning for the hate he spews. He come across as a foolish person devoid of reasoning power. I don't think he will win. But he may have many supporters because the other politicians and leaders of the world are too scared to take a stand and actually do something.
