. In my last post I confidently called fall to be well advanced. Friday's temperature was 24C. It was beautiful. I went for a 17 km bike ride...shorts... The whole bit. I came back in a sweat.
Little did I know things would change. I did listen to the forecast but didn't take things seriously. I couldn't imagine that much of a change. The wind picked up in the evening. It was a nasty gusty wind. I looked out after 1:00AM and the air was full of blowing snow!
So what a big surprise for me.
It blew and snowed until early afternoon before it died down. We ended up with about 10cm of snow.
Tonight it gets very cold...minus 6C.
Tomorrow it warms up and the snow will disappear.
I will also be skating tomorrow.
Once the first snow has fallen I relax and enjoy it.
By the way I look forward to fine October weather.
I saw the forecast! You have a great attitude - relax and enjoy it. Because not all the complaining in the world is going to change it :)
ReplyDeleteYou got it. I'not a complainer. Tomorrow it will be 12 C!
DeleteThe weather is very unpredictable nowadays, amazing from summer to winter!
ReplyDeleteThat's a typical change for here. We joke about wait twenty minutes and the weather will change.
DeleteThere'a a long winter ahead for you tough Albertans! I guess that sometimes a prairie summer is so short that if you blink you miss it.
ReplyDeleteWell the pessimists will say if tou blink you'll miss it. If you're outside summer is good and long.
Deleteit's getting cold here now but NOT THAT cold. Burr
ReplyDeleteWe will get lots ,more pleasant fall weatger.
DeleteIt can change fast, but you get snow lots earlier. We have had it the end of this month, but alas I was in shorts yesterday.
ReplyDeleteI will be able to wear shorts again as we'll get some nice weather.
DeleteStay warm.
ReplyDeleteNo worries. I'll be warm.
DeleteNot much we can do about the weather, is there? Glad to know you're starting skating again this year. :-)
ReplyDeleteI've been skating since the end of August..
DeleteMy favourite kind of weather!
ReplyDeleteI knew you ,d like This post!
DeleteEnjoy your skating.
ReplyDeleteI will have fun.
DeleteAnd I thought that our stormy weather was bad!
ReplyDeleteOh I think you get more and worse storms than we do.
DeleteWhat a lovely way you slide into winter.
ReplyDeleteI'd prefer To slide a little slower. Maybe I should find a better hill.
DeleteHi Red, I see one of your posts has the title "It had to happen sooner or later." So true. I suppose this new snow is just a "heads up" ... winter is on the way. And, like you said, there will be some fine weather in October. I enjoy your reports on Red Deer weather. Have a good week ahead!
ReplyDeleteYou have to take the good with the bad and complaining won't do any good.
DeleteWe are hoping for snow this winter. I can't even imagine seeing snow in October. Right now we would be happy with a shower of rain.
ReplyDeleteWe'd prefer not to have the snow.
DeleteBrrr. Not much autumn for you, but a plunge right into winter. It's 70 degrees and sunny here today, but with chilly mornings.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry. We will get lots of nice fall weather yet.
DeleteTypical Canadian weather! It can change very quickly.
ReplyDeleteJust a preview:)
ReplyDeleteI heard that things changed for you!
ReplyDeleteWe're getting the remnants of Hurricane Nate today.
