I have gone through daylight savings time changes as long as I can remember. And that's a long time. I'm not sure if I've experienced day light saving time all my life. However, I don't remember day light savings time in the Arctic. I don't remember day light savings time in Quebec.
I have always maintained that the time change doesn't bother me. But I guess if you think that we don't need to use daylight savings time then it is a bother.
Have you ever counted all the clocks you have in your house? I have 8 clocks and two watches. We don't set the watches. Now to set all those clocks is a pain. If we didn't have day light saving time I wouldn't have to change my time pieces. Now I have to do this twice a year.
If I stop and think about it there's not one advantage for me to go on day light saving time.
It's interesting to read about the odd rebel who refuses to change the time. It would be much easier for them to change time rather than to keep track of things so that they meet their obligations.
Now I will admit that for the days or few days of change I feel some stress. Today just seemed off. I stayed in bed until my get up time but I didn't sleep. All day things seemed off. I just felt that there were things I should be doing like eat lunch but it wasn't time to eat lunch. It seemed like there was a phantom day out there.
So the change in times does bother me.
I don't see the need to change and I think we are questioning more an more why we should use day light saving time.
I could gladly fore go daylight saving time or should I say I would like to stay on daylight saving time all year.
How do you feel about the time change?
I do not like the time change. It is a bother to go around setting all the clocks and my watch. I have to set the phone time too on my home phone. Altogether I have 8 clocks to set on different appliances and gadgets. Thankfully my television and computers set themselves.
ReplyDeleteI usually feel off after a time change but today was different. I slept in and felt unusually rested. Then I was surprised to find out it was actually an hour earlier because I did set the clocks in the wee hours but didn't bother setting my bedside clock. I heard on the news yesterday that the experts say it takes a week for the body to adjust to the time changes.
I think that there are many confused people on time change day.
DeleteI would much rather stay the same time all year. I believe daylight saving time was started during WWI and at the time there was good reason for it. It did save on some of the cost of lighting homes and businesses. But I recently read an article that there was little, if any, savings from it these days. Most people I know don't like it. Personally it takes me a bit to adjust to it either way it is changing. We do all tend to have our own biological clock that gets a bit confused with the change. And like it or not we will still have more dark hours in the winter!
ReplyDeleteOur life is much less regulated now. Stores and gas stations stay open all night. We can buy a burger at 3:00 Am. Why bother with changing time.
DeleteIn Europe we have discussions this year for the first time. People don't want the change anymore and keep it with one time again. For me I would agree, never liked the change of time.
ReplyDeleteI'm starting to hear discussion here about the time change. People don't like it.
DeleteHello, I wish they would stop the time change. It takes me 6 months to get used to the time change. I am awake an hour earlier and feel like going to sleep 2 hours earlier. Happy Monday, enjoy your day and new week ahead!
ReplyDeleteWe are creatures of the sun.
DeleteI think it's time to change it!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you. But, I haven't changed my watch since I retired. I have changed the battery in my watch.
DeleteWell, we went back to standard time from daylight saving time, for four months. Just long enough to get me used to it, then we lose that hour again in March. It's silly, if you ask me. :-)
ReplyDelete4 months is hardly worth a change.
DeleteI prefer standard time. This time changing is a silly game after all these years.
ReplyDeleteIf you stop and think about it doesn't make much sense.
DeleteIt doesn't really benefit most people anymore. It's a relic of the time when many people worked outdoors harvesting crops and that kind of thing, right? I just don't think we need it now.
ReplyDeleteYou're right about a relic. Most things are open 24/7 now.
DeleteI would prefer to get rid of daylight saving entirely and just stay on standard time.
ReplyDeleteIt depends where you live if you want to keep standard time or day light saving time.
DeleteThe time change doesn't seem to affect me but I'd rather we didn't have to do it. And the effects on health have been studied and found to be negative. I read a piece yesterday that said Russia and Argentina have already done away with DST and the EU is expected to do the same next year, so surely it will come to North America at some point!
ReplyDeleteWell, if that's the case we'll be changing sooner that I thought.
DeleteTime to get rid of it. I use to have a clock collection and hated to change all the clocks. We had animals and they were all used to eating at the same time everyday. Time change used to mess up them too.
ReplyDeleteResearch has been done on the change. It shows that there are some negative effects.
DeleteI see no reason for changing the clocks twice a year. It's dumb and I think it negatively affects many people's sense of well-being and creates some unnecessary confusion.
ReplyDeleteBesides, most things are open 24/7.
DeleteWhile I didn't have much difficulty adjusting to the time change, I didn't like it either, Red. We don't realize HOW many clocks we have that do not update automatically; only the PCs and cell phones did that :-(
ReplyDeleteMy thermostat also updates automatically.
DeleteI was on top of things this year changing clocks where as I just changed one in my basement two months ago, then had to redo it back.LOL I still went to bed at the same time and woke up today, but will adjust in a few weeks
ReplyDeleteIt does take time to adjust.
DeleteThe whole thing bothers me. It is as if aging people wanted to recalculate their ages as they got closer to the end of times. YOu cannot change time and wish we would get back to a real standard.
ReplyDeleteTime marches on.
DeleteI wish this would come to an end. It is really not necessary. My hometown is Montreal, Quebec, and day light saving time has always been experienced there as far back as I can remember.
ReplyDeleteI think we will see an end. It's not liked at all.
DeleteDST is kind of a bother, and not worth much anymore. Standard time is sun time. Here the sun is actually at high noon on Standard time. But either way is OK, then just leave it.
ReplyDeleteThe time change must really bother things like airlines.
DeleteThe time change has bothered me a little more this time and like you, I have felt a little off all day. Wish we could just stay the same year round.
ReplyDeleteI think we will stay the same pretty soon.
DeleteIt doesn't bother me one way or the other.
ReplyDeleteIt makes me cranky...i wish it would stay one way or the other:)
