MOOSE
Okay, some of you wanted to see photos of the moose the birders saw on Nov.9. So here are three photos. They are very healthy looking animals. I think this is the same moose in all photos.
You can see the gate behind the moose. This was where the birders were supposed to hit the road. Instead they had to turn around and go back 1.5 km.
All photos are courtesy of Lynnette.
...now that's a sight for sore eyes! Mighty neat.
ReplyDeleteThey are majestic animals.
DeleteWhat good pictures! They were smart to turn around and go the other way. Thank you for sharing Red and thanks to Lynnette too!
ReplyDeleteThey are all experienced outdoor people so they knew what they had to do.
DeleteYikes! Wow! That is a big animal. Wonderful photos!
ReplyDeleteMoose are huge.
DeleteGreat pictures! Thanks for sharing! I know they can be dangerous but they are still beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYou summed it up right.
DeleteWow!
ReplyDeleteThat's just such a privilege, to be up close to such a magnificent animal
There's a lot of telephoto on this. They were more than 100 m away.
DeleteHe is impressive, not one to come close to...
ReplyDeleteMostly they're docile but you can never trust them.
DeleteIt is a few years since I saw a moose. I will try to get up to Algonquin Provincial Park in May. That is generally a good spot see them. It's a magnificent animal.
ReplyDeleteWe have quite a few here . this one is actually in a city park.
DeleteThank you to Lynette! What fun that is!
ReplyDeleteLynnette is a terrific photographer
DeleteHello, the moose are beautiful animals. What a great sighting, it's not always about the birds. Great photos. Enjoy your day, wishing you a happy new week!
ReplyDeleteWe enjoy all critters we see.
DeleteWhat the...? A moose is much smaller than that! Even small kids know that a moose lives under the floorboards, squeaks and eats small pieces of cheese.
ReplyDeleteOops! Did I misspell moose?
DeleteThat is super cool! All I ever get to see in my backyard is squirrels.
ReplyDeleteMoose have gone through my urban lot more than once.
DeleteThis would be exciting to see. I have only once seen a moose -- in Cape Breton. Well actually, that's not true now that I think about because I almost collided with one in the Canadian Rockies. I would have been a goner.
ReplyDeleteMoose can cause much damage to cars in a collision.
DeleteThat guy has got some long legs. I'd have gone around, too. :-)
ReplyDeleteThese guys turned round and went back. They did the right thing.
DeleteLove seeing the moose. Certainly something I'll never see here in northern California. Thank you for posting.
ReplyDeleteThis was in a city park. I've had them go through my urban yard a few times.
DeleteGreat photos! I don't think I've ever seen a moose in real life.
ReplyDeleteThey are majestic animals.
DeleteHi Red, Wow, looks like a young one. Neat pics! I've seen moose in Yellowstone and parts of Montana near the Park. They sure are impressive animals. I don't think I've ever been as close as Lynnette got. Congrats to her on the pics and thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThere was a cow and two calves. Lynnette has a lot of telephoto to work with.
DeleteGreat sighting and clear pictures . Your becoming a pro at this picture taking now. Thanks for sharing. We have those where I used to live in the country. You dont want to get in there way. They are approx. 10 feet tall. No kidding. Now I am a city gal. My choice but since Sid is in the hospital. Maybe 2 years. I live 7 minutes away so I can see him atleast 6 days in the week or more. Enjoy your week.
ReplyDeleteLynnette took this photo. I hope Sid is doing as well as can be expected.
DeleteWhat an incredible animal to see. They are impressive to see up close.
ReplyDeleteThey are majestic.
DeleteWhat a big beast! I've always felt privileged on those occasions when I've seen one out in the wild.
ReplyDeletethey are kings.
DeleteWow, beautiful! What a great sighting.
ReplyDeleteWe have them in town but these were a surprise.
DeleteGreat picture from Lynette! A detour of 1.5 km is a bit of a hike but best in the long run. Especially if it's a male moose, in the fall!
ReplyDeleteThe female in this family group was threatening.
DeleteIntimidating. I guess you cannot just go around and out!
ReplyDeleteThere's an old Scottish joke (it need a Scottish accent) which goes "If that's a moose then I'd sure hate te see a rat".
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing these moose images, Red, and now I hope we do not run into any on the roadways when we see the warning signs of "Moose Crossing."
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos.
