My goodness sakes! Sounds like you could leave that Pfizer vaccine out in your backyard! I remember some -30Fs in Montana but don't think I've ever experienced the -40s.
Brr Brr. I've experienced it a few times, probably not as often as you. - I remember the sound the snow makes underfoot, how brittle objects are, and my hair freezing if I hadn't dried it well. When the sun is out, the smoke rising straight up from chimneys.
Hi Red, You've probably already seen this, but just in case, here is the latested from Environment Canada for Red Deer as of Monday morning 8-2-2021. Extremely cold wind chill values between minus 40 and minus 55 continue. This prolonged cold snap is expected to persist into the weekend for many areas of Alberta. There will be some moderation in temperature at times, typically during daylight hours. Watch for cold related symptoms: shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes. Extreme cold warnings are issued when very cold temperatures or wind chill creates an elevated risk to health such as frost bite and hypothermia. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ABstorm@canada.ca or tweet reports using #ABStorm. Recommended actions: Cover up. Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill. If it’s too cold for you to stay outside, it’s too cold for your pet to stay outside.
dear Red reading it makes me shiver with cold ,i feel bit concerned when you mention such cold ,kindly keep taking great care and stay warm . i hope and pray weather get better in your part of land amen!
I haven’t felt those levels of cold in a long time. When I lived on the Minnesota-Canada border, I got used to them, sort of. I hope it warms up for you soon and meanwhile, I know you are an expert on handling it but stay safe.
Once we hit anything below -25 it's time to stay indoors in my opinion. Makes me wonder what the heck I ever got a dog for with our brutal winters... but like you said, we still get out when we must. It's looking like we're through the worst of this Red, we are true survivors! lol
Very pretty, but too cold for me.
ReplyDeleteAh, you'd get used to it!
Deleteeither way that's cold!! When we moved into our new home in Missouri ( Dec. 1983) it was - 20 F and that was cold enough
ReplyDeleteThat would be very, very cold for Missouri.
DeleteThat's crazy cold, Red!
ReplyDeleteEven I would admit that it's a bit cold.
DeleteNow you have a very cold day. Stay warm!!
ReplyDeleteYou would understand very well what this is like. the show must go on.
DeleteBurrr! I did not know -41 was the same either way. We are in a cold wave here but nothing like yours. You two stay warm!
ReplyDeleteOne thing is that February cold spells can't last VERY long time.
DeleteMy goodness sakes! Sounds like you could leave that Pfizer vaccine out in your backyard! I remember some -30Fs in Montana but don't think I've ever experienced the -40s.
ReplyDeleteI just wish we had some Pfizer vaccine.
Delete-19 C here. Fortunately I can stay inside all day.
ReplyDeleteOh come on Ed, live dangerously and get out there and have some fun!
DeleteGood gosh! I've never felt that temperature before. Sheesh!
ReplyDeleteYou'd get used to it. The major point is having the right clothing like layers.
DeleteOh yes, I know how to layer, but not to that degree of temperature. Yikes!
DeleteIt’s cold enough to see the frost in the air. Burrr...
ReplyDeleteYes, it's ice fog.
DeleteOur temperatures here this winter haven't gotten down that cold, but we've had a night or two of -30.
ReplyDeleteIt's been years since we've had a temperature this low.
DeleteBrr Brr. I've experienced it a few times, probably not as often as you. - I remember the sound the snow makes underfoot, how brittle objects are, and my hair freezing if I hadn't dried it well. When the sun is out, the smoke rising straight up from chimneys.
ReplyDeleteYes, you've been in the cold. I remember the squeaks the horses hooves mace when it was this cold.
DeleteI can't imagine that depth of coldness.
ReplyDeleteIt happens in a hurry. The temperature goes down and you go down with it.
DeleteThe coldest air temperature I can recall experiencing is minus 34 C. If I never experience minus 41 it will be too soon!
ReplyDeleteMinus 34 is nothing to snicker about. It's cold.
DeleteThat is just brutally cold. I always wonder how the wildlife make it through these cold snaps.
ReplyDeleteSome wildlife will be lost at these temperatures but not much. The deer went through my yard last night.
DeleteI haven't been in cold weather like that since I was very young.
ReplyDeleteI'll bet you were out when it was this cold. I was out for an hour today.
DeleteYes I have. I remember the nose hairs sticking together, lol.
DeleteI know one other: 4=40. But it's not any proportional thing. I spent one winter in Cleveland in the middle -30's. F.
ReplyDeleteI would think that you have experienced minus 41C quite a few times.
ReplyDeleteWow, I didn't think it got that cold in Cleveland.
ReplyDeleteCan only hope the snow provides some insulation against extreme heating bills.
ReplyDeleteReally? That is very cold! Here is snow everywhere and we think it is cold outside with minus 6 C....
ReplyDeleteI guess that I have never been in cold that severe.
ReplyDeleteThat is indeed cold!
ReplyDeleteBrrrr! The only conversion number I remember is that 16 C equals 61 F. I hope I never have to experience -41, either way!
ReplyDeleteI don't think it has gotten that cold since ! LOL It was a rude awakening to Missouri's weather.

ReplyDeleteI know and that is really cold. We are still limping along with electric heaters. Stay warm Red! Send warmer weather when you get some:)
ReplyDeleteNo. No. Oh no no no. I complained bitterly about 11 degrees. I don't believe I've ever dealt with -41.
ReplyDeleteI once spent a night in a tent and when we woke up the drinking water was frozen. It was around -3C. Does that count?
ReplyDeleteWow, that is too cold. I guess I should not complain about temps in the 20's.. Take care, enjoy your day and week ahead!
ReplyDeleteTell Jean that it is balmy in Cudworth today. Three degrees centigrade.
ReplyDeleteMinus 41! Hell you Canadians are bloody tough people. I cannot imagine what it must have been like in Esk when it got really cold.
Way too cold for me!! Do you all every worry about your heating unit going down?
ReplyDeleteJust checking in to make sure you haven't frozen stark stiff.

ReplyDeleteMy goodness!
ReplyDeleteI'm amazed ANYTHING survives in that kind of cold.
ReplyDeleteThat is just unbelievably cold! I would probably never adjust to that kind of cold.
