Today we had one of those winter days with a lot of nasty winter characteristics. We had intensive cloud cover and snow. So the day was very dark even at 11:00 AM when these photos were taken. It was minus 18C (minus 1 F).
So in the afternoon I began shoveling snow from the sidewalk and driveway. The wind had picked up by them
We picked up 4 or 5 cm of snow. Since it's very cold the snow is dry and powdery.
...an nickel to the first person to tell me where I stole the title from!
I don't know where you got the title but I like how you captured the atmosphere in the air.
ReplyDeleteI took liberties all around!
DeleteBrrr! That's cold and it looks it too. We have a big cold front and snow moving in here tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI think your title is also the name of a song!
Yes , the name of a song. It depends on how old you are and what kind of music you listened to if you know about this one.
Delete-8 F here now and windy about -30 windchill Sounds like it will be this way about 10 days....no fun...send warmer weather please!
ReplyDeleteOur forecast is for very cold longer than seven days. Sorry. I can't help you out.
DeleteIt's been a blue, blue day,
ReplyDeleteI feel like running away,
I feel like running away from it all.
My love has been untrue, she's found somebody new,
It's been a blue, blue day for me
.......
I started singing as soon as I saw the words.
As for the singer - I will not get the nickel..
I've guessed at Bobby Darin, Buddy Holly and The Everly Brothers. Nobody in the house can tell me, they're all at least 15 years younger than me.
When I've posted the comment I'll Google it.
Anyway, what's a nickel worth?
Alphie
Interesting that you remember lyrics and tune.
DeleteI believe it is the title of a song by Don Gibson - now where's my nickel? A gallon of maple syrup will do instead.
ReplyDeleteTell me now, have you every heard this song? You listen to American country music? I don't think so!
DeleteYour temps are very cold. We have a cold front coming this weekend and lasting all week but the temps won't match yours.
ReplyDeleteMy guess on where you got the title is from Don Gibsons' song of the same name. https://youtu.be/c9VAHd5DFTY
I didn't think you were old enough to have listened to Don Gibson. He was big during his time.
DeleteI don't know that phrase exactly, but I do know that February can be described as the Bleakest Month.
ReplyDeleteBy February we've had winter for a long time and we're tired of it.
DeleteIt's been a tad chilly, hasn't it?!
ReplyDeleteOur chilly is going to stay for at least seven days or more.
DeleteRed Deer sure had a Blue Blue Day! :-) All right here you go for the nickel ...
ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c9VAHd5DFTY
Enjoy, have a good weekend, and stay warm!
It was a very dull day. You would be old enough to remember this guy if you listened to country music.
DeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteThe minus temperatures are way too cold for me. We have snow on the ground now and more maybe coming next week with temps in the single digits. Now, I am wishing winter was over. I am guessing the title is part of a song. Take care, have a happy weekend!
Once February comes we've had enough winter.
DeleteWell, I didn't see any blue in your pictures, but it's the title of a song that escapes me at the moment. It sure looks cold, Red!
ReplyDeleteIt's just a very light tinge of blue!
DeleteHope things warm up there soon and you get plenty of sunshine.
ReplyDeleteOur seven day forecast is for it to be very cold. My guess is that it wall stay cold for a while.
DeleteThe title of the song Blue, Blue Day by Don Gibson starts with the title of your post.
ReplyDeleteI am glad your wife is on puréed food for only two weeks. That must be a relief.
Hope all is well.
Don Gibson song a lot of great songs.
DeleteI looked it up. But I won't say in case someone else actually knows the answer.
ReplyDeleteThese days everything is on the internet.
DeleteYeesh. Too cold for me! I do not know the Don Gibson song to which everyone is referring -- my first thought was Elvis Presley's "Blue Christmas"!
ReplyDeleteYou're too young to remember Don Gibson and then you didn't listen to country music.
DeleteTruth be told, even with the blizzard the other day and the cold snap this week, it has been a pretty mild winter for us. I'm not going to complain yet but I might if February ends up being like this all month long.
ReplyDeleteYes , by the time February arrives , we've had enough winter.
DeleteIt is cold here in Illinois and getting colder!
ReplyDeleteI did not know the song so you made me feel younger today! thanks, Red!
If you're getting cold my daughter will soon be complaining .She lives around Chicago.
DeleteSure hope that you have a lot of nickels, Red, but then you did say that the first person to state where the blog post came from would be the sinner. We all know how to look things up online to learn that it was indeed a song by Don Gibson.
ReplyDeleteThere is very little that we can't look up on line!
DeleteAfter reading how cold it is up there, I will not moan about our cold temperatures :) We had snow in Northern Virginia, but it has melted for the most part. We are supposed to get more in the next day or so.
ReplyDeleteIt's all relative. I did walk about a kilometer yesterday.
DeleteWe had snow like that yesterday, but today has been clear.
ReplyDeleteThere's lots more snow to come.
DeleteI think it's cold because it's 3ºC and gales force winds. The coldest weather I have ever experienced was -26ºC in Sarnia, Ontario.
ReplyDeleteYes, it can get cold at Sarnia but Timmins can be much colder. I've never been to Saria but attended a conference in Timmins.
DeleteIt was blue, blue here today. Actual blue, clear, and sunshine!
ReplyDeleteVery tricky! I would rather have your blue day about now.
ReplyDeleteI was hoping your blue, blue day involved beautiful blue skies! We are also having many gray days. Gets to the optimism supply after a bit, doesn’t it! Hope today is sunnier for you.
ReplyDeleteWE are thrilled to have our second snowstorm this weekend. Snow has been rare the last two years!
ReplyDeleteI cheated and looked it up too. Sorrrry.... Just couldn't help myself. You Canadians are strong stock. It was 57 degrees F here on Oahu and we were 'freezing.' They did say there was a freak hail storm on the Big Island though.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like around here! Cold. But the images are really pretty, though.
ReplyDeleteimages convey it softly though minus 18 sounds horrible to me brrr
ReplyDeletestay warm precious friend!
