We were out at a location called Nova Nature Trails. It's about 300 acres of fairly good native habitat.
I didn't get any bird photos. I wanted some scenery shots and birder shots.
The snow is the left over from Monday.
The first photo is a wasp nest from last summer.
It looks as if you have quite a varied age group. That always keeps things lively, doesn't it? Looks like it was a chilly day.
ReplyDeleteYes, we always have some young people which is great. It was 12 C by the time we finished.
DeleteLooks like it was a chilly day! Hope you saw lots of birds and had fun!
ReplyDeleteIt was sunny and plus 12 so fairly nice. We saw 13 species.
DeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to have many eyes looking for the birds, nice size group for your bird outing. Take care, enjoy your day and the new week ahead.
We have about 35 people who participate and usually 10 to 15 who show up.
DeleteCould you at least provide a list of the species you saw?
ReplyDeleteThanks for your interest. We have a face book page red deer river naturalists. The sat morning summary is usually on there.
DeleteIf I were on Facebook I would take a look.
DeleteA nice, bright day for checking out birders, birds and old wasp nests. By the way, in the north of England we often refer to women as birds.
ReplyDeleteSometimes the term bird is used here as in and old bird.
DeleteHow very nice to get together with a group of like-minded people.
ReplyDeleteIt's a very friendly supportive group.
DeleteLooks like a nice long walk on a pretty blue-sky day.
ReplyDeleteWe did 5.12 km. As you can see we are in the country with only the odd farm.
DeleteYour landscape is still so wintery. Wishing you some spring abundance soon.
ReplyDeleteThis snow is what is left over from April 18.
Deleteit is always joy to wander along with people who share the likening with you indeed ,birding must be a beautiful experience dear Red .
ReplyDeleteglad snow is on melting point eventually
It's a very good group to spend time with each week.
DeleteHow nice to have a group to gather with and look for birds. It is such a treat to see them return after winter.
ReplyDeleteSome of these people are very knowledgeable.
DeleteYour spring is definitely not as far advanced as ours - where are you exactly?
ReplyDeleteI live between CAlgary and Edmonton in Alberta Canada.
DeleteLooks like a nice day to be out and about.
ReplyDeleteIt was a very nice day and one of the first in a long time.
DeleteThat looks like a good-sized wasp nest! Do the wasps overwinter in it or are they all dead now?
ReplyDeleteYou've asked a good question. I know they don't overwinter in the nest but then I guess they lay eggs which hatch in the spring.
DeleteA good day to get out and about.
ReplyDeleteWe've had so very few nice days.
DeleteYou have a nice group of birders. I imagine it is very refreshing to be able to get together again for these outings!
ReplyDeleteIt's a real treat to get out with people again.
DeleteThat looks like a lot of fun and exercise. I'm wondering how many different birds you saw too.
ReplyDeleteWe saw 13 species and I'm not sure how many individual birds we saw.
DeleteA fine looking bunch of birders. It still looks like winter up there. :-)
ReplyDeleteI decided to take photos of the landscape and people.
DeleteYou may need to call your group something like Ready Ramblers, and just do as you please.
ReplyDeleteWell that sounds like a good idea but I'm afraid we're not too creative.
ReplyDeleteHeard from a cousin and from a friend, both in Minot, that they're still struggling out from under 30+ inches of snow. Thanks for the birthday greetings.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun way to spend time. And it looks like you had nice weather, too!
ReplyDeleteMaybe no bird pictures but I enjoyed the scenery and seeing your group of friends. It still looks cold there.
