I have to consider myself very fortunate as people do things for me and I have not asked for help.
We've had some snow and cold the last few days. We've had 5 to 10 cm (2 to 4 in) . Well you know , it has to be shoveled. I also have more than my share of sidewalks ...about 150 ft. So when we get the 2 to 4 in of snow it's a lot of work.
Now I'm very capable of shoveling snow . I will also shovel snow for other people.
I have four people I know who have cleared my sidewalk and one other person that I have not identified. So that's a lot of help. I was outside when one guy came along and he told me to go in my house and he would also do my drive way.
So I am fortunate and thankful that people come by and shovel snow for me.
So here we are in our younger years shoveling snow. Well, I see it's only 9 years ago!
It is a big job shoveling snow, I am so glad you have help!
ReplyDeleteFortunately I'm still able to handle it. It doesn't have to be done all at once.
DeleteGood heavens man! You were a member of the noble teaching profession. There's no way you should be shovelling snow like one of those rough and ready manual workers. You should be inside with a mug of cocoa reading "Teacher Man" by Frank McCourt.
ReplyDeleteFRank McCourt? I've read some of his stuff. I admit to not minded shoveling snow.
DeleteThere is also something to be said for having a smaller property.
ReplyDeleteYes, much less to look after with less ground.
DeleteYou have wonderful neighbors, helping to clear the snow. We have one like that too, very thankful for nice neighbors. Take care, enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteI certainly do have great neighbors.
DeleteNow I am no longer mobile (and 90) I find kind people do the job for me,
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you've done shoveling for others.
DeleteYou have great neighbours!
ReplyDeleteSo nice to have such good friends. They think a lot of you for some unknown reason. (smile)
ReplyDeleteWell, I think a lot of my neighbors too.

ReplyDeleteSo glad you have snow angels on the block. Got to love them!
Nice term "snow angels."
DeleteThere are many kind people in this world. You are fortunate!
ReplyDeleteI certainly have kind people around me.
DeleteI am lucky to have my oldest son living with me and he loves to shovel. Also, we have a snow blower to use when needed. Neighbors in my cul de sac always help each other when it comes to snow shoveling! Glad you have helpers too!
ReplyDeleteI wish my son was living here but I wouldn't want him to change where he has chosen to be.
DeleteI think many a person will have a personal story behind why they might do that. My uncle, who's since passed away, had a heart attack while shoveling.
ReplyDeleteElderly people should only shovel snow if they are healthy.
DeleteBack when I lived in a more densely populated area, I often "shoveled" neighboring driveways with my snowblower. But at this house, we don't have sidewalks and everybody on the street but me pays to have a snowplow truck clear their driveways so I'm left just doing my own.
ReplyDeleteYour neighbors must be rich if they all hire snow clearing.
DeleteThe quiet people who simply step out and do things for others are the biggest blessings this world has to offer.
ReplyDeleteAgree 100%
DeleteIt's great that you have helpful neighbors!
ReplyDeleteThey keep an eye out for me.
DeleteA very nice offer for people to help you.
ReplyDeleteI certainly appreciate their kindness.
DeleteThat's a good neighborhood!
ReplyDeleteWe do very little snow shoveling here. Usually our heavy, wet snow melts fast.
It's good that you don't have to shovel heavy wet snow.
DeleteIt's so wonderful to have kind and helpful neighbors like this. The true definition of being a good neighbor. (NewRobin13)
ReplyDeleteThere are more good people than you will ever know, until they come to help you.
ReplyDeleteI certainly do appreciate them.
ReplyDeleteYes, you are fortunate indeed. And I like the photos! 😊
ReplyDeleteWe used to often help to shovel the driveway for our older neighbors in Illinois. I'm glad we don't have to worry about shoveling snow anymore. I'm really happy to hear you have wonderful people around you who are willing to pay it forward or sidewards.
