This is my parents wedding photo. they were married in Feb. 1938. They were still in the depression but they decided to make a life together. It was a wild ride of ups and downs.
Lovely to have such a clear photo of your parents from way back. It needed a special occasion in those days to justify having a photo taken, now everyone snaps away at anything with their phones. I have one of my mother taken with her parents and brothers when she was a young girl. Mum always said that she couldn't recall why the photo was taken with everyone in their best clothes. Then one day I was putting it in a new frame and I glanced at the date on the back - it was just before children from London were evacuated to families in the countryside at the start of WWII. It was probably taken because they didn't know if they would ever be together as a family again.
I don't think I have ever seen a photos from my grandparents' weddings, not either side. They would have been married around the same time. My mum's parents waited about 7 years to marry because of the depression. Despite the hardships life brings, people manage to find hope and look toward the future.
What a nice photo to have. Your Dad's hair is dandy! Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteHis hair was actually curly.

ReplyDeleteSometimes that very important info is missing from a photo. Not many people thought to write any information on their photos.
