DAY LIGHT SAVINGS

Here we are on that special day that most of us like to bitch about. Time change!

We've had day light savings time for a very long time. At first it was rather sporadic. Some areas or cities had daylight savings time and the next town or city didn't have a change in time.

Lately, there were very few areas that did not change time. The province of Saskatchewan has not changed time for a very long time.

The rest of us just complain about time change. Some want us to go on standard time permanently. Some want us to go on day light savings time permanently. Then there's the province of Newfoundland Canada which goes by the half hour.

At one time, time change did not bother me. Now it takes me  few days to get used to the time

This year there's a new wrinkle in time. Trump keeps saying he will change the time. What it will be changed to , we don't know. When it will be changed is probably not decided. So with Trump , time change is a moving target.

Some day, time change will have to be decided. It seems that too many people are unhappy with the spring and fall time changes.

  1. It seems that people all over the world hate time changes! Here in Sydney daylight saving time is very popular but in other parts of the country, not so much.

  2. The time change has always bothered me but these days I'm retired so it's not a big deal. I've lost track of how many years it's been since they've been saying that we'll no longer have to change the time. We in BC were supposedly waiting for Washington. Now that idea is probably toast.

    1. With high tech available you'd think they could come up with an acceptable solution.

  4. It isn't as if it all gets done at the same time!
UK does it on 30 March, NZ on 6 April ( so twice a year have a week 12 hours apart!!) Australia isn't all changing at the same time as NZ...in fact I think that at least one state doesn't change...
Time we just left the clocks alone!!

    1. My neighbor province doesn't change and they get along just fine. My three brothers live in that province and to them it's fine.

  5. I have no schedule at this stage of my life, so I am unbothered. But I don’t think I was ever really much bothered.

  7. Now that I am retired, Red, it does not bother me at all. Whatever works best with everyone is fine with me. Of course, with all of the disagreement in my country, how will anyone ever agree on what is best with the time! Seems like the least of our worries right now. ;)

  9. I don't really see the point of the time change in this day and age. It seems unnecessary.

  10. I dislike the change, now it will get dark at night at 7:30 when it is too cold to be outside.

    1. Here, we are far enough north to get long pleasant evenings and the sun still comes up before 5 AM.

  11. I forgot to change our clocks. Digital ones are no problem but we have got a few others to do. Changing the time? I am keeping my eye on the bouncing ball and wondering where it lands next.

  13. I think the US would do away with the time change except that we are pretty evenly divided about which way to change it. Trump has now figured that out and backed off the idea too.

    1. You're right. Now the issue is which way do we go. Here the days are long enough so that we will always get the long evenings and if you get up at 5 AM you have bright sunlight.

  14. I don't particularly like the process, but I like the end result. Without it, would have sunvery early in the morning, but not later in the evening during the summer. However, if we stuck to daylight savings time, it would be so dark in the mornings through the winter. Saskatchewan is ideally situated in the time zone where it doesn't see as much of this effect as does Manitoba or Alberta. I just wish that we started the daylight savings time at the end of March and switched back at the end of October like we used to do, so that it was truly 6 months each way.

  15. Red, way back there some human figured out that we needed to break the day/night cycle into exactly 24 hours. It seemed logical that the middle of the day would be called noon and the middle of the night would be midnight. Then along came some smart human asking: Who really cares what the clock says? Let’s just adjust the clocks to make it seem like the daylight lasts longer. So now, all we have to bitch about is changing from one time to the other … and back again … over and over. 😊 John

  16. Sitting here unable to sleep at 1:51 in the morning, I am in favor of permanent Daylight Savings time.

  17. I hate changing the clocks. Just leave them as they are. Time marches on in spite of anything humans might choose to do. I see absolutely no benefits whatsoever in changing the clocks - in fact the process has many downsides.

  19. We don't change the clocks until March 31st.

  20. Don't you think all the stress and anger about the time changing is only for a day or two and then people get used to it each year?

  21. The time changes here on March 30th. Since I'm at home now, it's not really a change for me because I can organize my day as I like.
    Hug for you

  22. I am still adjusting to the time change haha! It is making me excited about spring though. I am having a new gate latch installed in my backyard this week & am looking forward to the warmer weather and longer days so that we can spend more time outside.

  23. I think I'd like to do away with it. Dunno how any one in power will agree on what we stay with, though.

  24. I have found it quite unnatural and disturbing at first but I got used by it with time .
I doubt that time change is going anywhere. Seems authorities toying with it
