By now you will be tired of my whining about computer problems. You will be saying, "Red , go out and buy a new computer." That is in the works.
But I'm going to tell you my story with Google Chrome.
Four or five days ago google chrome disappeared on me. I tried a few amateurish methods to get it back. Nothing happened.
So then I'm off to my "go to guy", my son. He told me to install chrome again but, look and see if chrome is still on my computer. I couldn't find google chrome on my machine so I installed. It didn't work. So I've cussed and swore for a few days.
So this morning I said I'm going to fix google chrome or bust. I looked at how to uninstall and sure enough google chrome was there . So I uninstalled google chrome and then installed google chrome.
There are a few wrinkles to iron out such as sound and camera.
It improves life a great deal once you get your computer back in business.
It is surprising how many things respond well to "turn it off then turn it back on"!!
ReplyDeletemaybe we can try this with my country!
DeleteGood one Debby!
DeleteI get very frustrated when computer issues come up. Even if I'm able to solve them the problem takes times to fix and in the meantime you are left without access to the internet. It goes to show how much we have to rely on technology even when we don't want to. I'm glad you got your issue resolved.
ReplyDeleteGood for you to fix things. so I have another go to person!
DeleteI can imagine how frustrating is such thing dear Red, I have gone to such crazy situations many times, sometimes I would google and follow up methods faithfully but in vain ,but when I would call any of my kids for help job is done. This feels annoying
ReplyDeleteYou have three very good assistants in your sons. My son and daughter are good helpers.
Deletehow weird for that to happen Red. Maybe the evil Musk youngsters are messing in our computers. Sigh. Linda in KS
ReplyDeleteIt's not so weird. the computer is 8 years old so it's t the end of it's life.
DeleteI didn't know Chrome could just disappear! Strange!
ReplyDeleteI am glad all is well now. Take care, enjoy your day!
Computers continue to make me frustrated. I've been using Chrome for a while without a problem, but you just never know what's coming next!
ReplyDeleteWell, in the end I was able to install chrome so It's OK for now.
DeleteComputers are wonderful when they behave!
ReplyDeleteSo true!
DeleteA working computer alleviates much frustration from life!
ReplyDeleteAnd a not working computer can drive you crazy.
DeleteI'm a Chrome user. I wonder what happened?
ReplyDeleteI think it had more to do with my computer than chrome.
DeleteA wise man once told me that the majority of computer problems are caused by a loose nut behind the keyboard.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely true and I'm one of those nuts.
DeleteIt worries me sometimes how much I am dependent on technology now. With the crazy things going on here, I worry that someone could just shut us down and we would lose our ability to communicate or power our homes or get our bills done online, etc., etc.
ReplyDeleteI hope there are checks and balances to the system. I do worry about blogger disappearing.
DeleteRed, looking forward to you getting a new machine. My guess is that will solve a lot of your headaches. In the meantime, happy to hear you’ve got Chrome reinstalled. John
ReplyDeleteA new computer will be great but it will not solve all problems as there will still be the same operator.
DeleteJust hours after I read your post, I saw this. Enjoy. :)

I use Chrome also, that is a mystery. I have a Mac:)
ReplyDeleteI think it has more to do with my computer than chrome.
DeleteOh the sounds familiar. It's been some years back now, but I remember going through that aggravating process and the good feeling when I finally won the battle.
ReplyDeleteI know the feeling you're talking about. You go from one extreme to another.
DeleteGlad it works for you again. It sure can be aggravating.
ReplyDeleteAggravating is the perfect description.
DeleteI feel your pain. I lost google myself, recenty.
ReplyDeleteComputer problems are so frustrating, I'm glad your version of unplugging and plugging back in worked!
ReplyDeleteIt takes a lot of patience, too.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you could get the problem fixed, Red. I am hopeless with computer problems. Thank goodness my son is close at hand. Although, he has told me he just Googles for a solution most of the time! What irks me most is when the computer does a mandatory update and then suddenly things that used to work no longer do.
ReplyDeleteAnd Art just told me this afternoon that his desk top computer has suddenly lost the WiFi signal. What the heck!
ReplyDeleteOne wonders how that happened.
