COMMENTS ON COMMENTS

A few weeks ago I changed things on my blog. It was my intention to post a comment every day.

I admit that I have been struggling the last while. I've found topics hard to come by and the writing wasn't up to what I expected of myself. I've also discovered that my aging slows things down.

I've had a list of quotes that I wanted to use on the blog for a long time. I wanted to make a side bar with a quote of the day. I collected the comments in my teaching days as I had a quote of the day on the chalk board to get kids attention before I entered the classroom. So my secret for comments was  to get them out of the local paper. Today you can find books of comments.

I've had some comments on the change. I know I lost some followers but, I also gained some. Some expressed their opinion which was great. I like to see both positive and negative comments. I also like the comments on the way the blog was written before.

I appreciated one comment more than any other and it didn't make it on to the blog. My son said, "  Dad, it's just not you!" I appreciated his keen sense of who I am and that he will miss that part. By the way he said , " Dad  go back to what you had before."

A funny thing is happening. I seem to be writing as many posts as before so you are getting two types of blog.

Thanks for reading from 2008. I've learned so much from this activity. I've found so many interesting  on line friends.

HUMOR

Insanity isn't inherited. You get it from your children.

                                                                                                              Sam Levinson

Sam Levinson was an American humorist born in 1911. His humor was famous for quotes.  Today his quotes are still funny but dated. We don't use the term insanity anymore but we still get the humor.

BLOG CHANGE

I have decided to make some changes to my blog. I have been struggling lately. Topics seem hard to come by. If I don't have something interesting to say it's hard to write something. So, like I chose my retirement, I couldn't teach the way I wanted to . I knew then it was time to quit.

So I'm not exactly quitting. I'm going to do a quote of the day. Where did this idea come from? Well yes, I did this in school. Many kids read the quote of the day once they got into the classroom. For me it was  way to get their attention I was always impressed when some little guys checked into the classroom for  quote  of the day and they weren't in my class.

So once in while there will be a post but most of the time a quote. I hope you like them.

I will still be  round to read your posts.

Blogging has been very interesting and rewarding for me.

Quotes

Today I noticed a quote that would have fit my previous post. In my last post I got on the topic of
unity rather than division. My example was that it's easy to ignore skateboarders but at what cost.

I was doing the cryptoquote yesterday, and this was the quote. For a change, start by speaking to people rather than walking by them like they're stones that don't matter. -Maya Angelou

After Angelou's quote, I feel guilty. A friend has been very ill. He shares his facebook page with his wife. I was telling his wife to keep us posted on Willis's condition. Then I thought, Willis is reading this and I'm talking about him not to him. Embarrassing?

I thought , why didn't I think of finding a quote to go along with my post?

Now there are many excellent blogs that use quotes to great effect. One photography blog The Smitten Image, has a very suitable post with each photo. Some blogs, Button's Thoughts, Just another Day on the Prairie, start with a good quote.

So now I've talked myself into thinking about quotes for my posts. That's going to be a challenge because some of my posts are so odd it may be hard to find a good quote.

Do you use quotes? What blogs do you read that make excellent use of posts?
